TBF they didn’t sell out Gaddafi, the consequence of him making peace with the West was that his regime no longer had an enemy to blame for all its problems, and because he’d opened up the state a little bit. The same sort of thing happened in Syria too, where Assad had considerably liberalised his regime before the protests that led to the war, and of course the USSR fell as the result of Glasnost rather than economic crises or structural instability.

The mad thing is of course that the same sort of thing would almost certainly have happened in Iran if the nuclear deal had been adhered to be everyone and the sanctions regime been relaxed. What Trump has done to that deal, and did at the weekend, might well have kept that lot in power for years

I guess they're wanting a retaliation to justify a declaration of war, but... the US clearly just started this, blatantly, so they can hardly call a retaliation akin to an out of nowhere 9/11 type attack.

Iran isn't the point for Trump, but primarily a means of creating an advantageous situation for himself politically.

Let's not forget that for all their international consequences, the Cold War, and then the "war on drugs," and now the "war on terror," have all doubled as make-work projects for the American military-industrial complex.

Iran situation is a product of America causing mayhem in the Middle East they revolted in the 70s and kicked America out. Now they are no where near perfect but the youth of Iran were getting more political and active and protesting. Not anymore. The whole country is hell bent on revenge and have been empowered. America and co needs a regime change they need their generals and president taking out or revolted they cause more chaos than Iran could ever imagine in the Middle East and now have made things 1000 times worse. They’re people were in a process of change. Now they find themselves in a war with America.

I want Trump to say that whatever you do, we will not start it, but whatever you do we will do it x 100. The USA has the power , it’s about time they had a President willing to use it. If Iran does anything, even killing one American, or one of its proxies does anything, I personally would wipe Tehran off the map, then sort out all of its development bases, everything, and it’s defence organisations. One by one, all military removed. Then let the rest of the Middle East take it over....
The time for Obama and messing around is over....just get it done...
