Unless every single politician that is for having troops and drones in the Middle East signs up and their kids up to go over and fight they should have no say and no vote or decision. Unless they are all willing to
Do that they should be all pulling the troops out and end all their wars and interventions.

Basically yes. 770 imprisoned 7 convicted. It’s no different other than far greater numbers and longer sentences at the behest of the imperialist Americans.

I dont think theres been 770 tourists or journos in guantanemo mate...which seemed to be the response to my post about that?

Also theres a lot of guantanamo prisoners who were released and then found to be back up to their old tricks...

Cant see the corrolation to be honest?

Isnt that what the people in the armed forces are paid to do?

No people in the arms forces aren’t politicians. They’re paid to fight in wars they don’t have any political say for. Politicians who vote for war but don’t go themselves are hypocrites.

well you wouldn’t would yiu
There is currently about 20 western prisoners in Iran, there was nearly 800 in Guantanamo only 7 of whom were ever found to be guilty of anything

massive difference in favour of Iran Zat, youd never admit that though.

This makes no sense at all...

So theres 800 journalists and tourists that were in Guantanamo? Thats what you responded to...and that is clearly untrue.

Did you know that there are westerners sentenced to death for sleeping with iranian women? Or done for spying when visiting family?

Thats next level insane....if Iran had the power that the US has dont you think a lot more would be dead or at best in jail?

Honestly its just common sense.

No mate, most of the 800 were INNOCENT

Slightly out of context but whilst in the Merchant Navy I docked in Khorramsharh an inland port in Iran.
I was shot at by the security forces for a slight misdemeanour. That was whilst the Shah was in power. Trigger happy, all of them! I've always felt that they don't need much to make them kick off.

They certainly are mate. however having personally been to the funerals of a more than a Couple of lads killed in Iraq and found myself standing next to families I’d like us to be sure it’s for completely the right reasons . I’d never seek to undermine the service or sacrifice of those that were killed or injured by dismissing the conflict or the reasons behind it but like I say I’d prefer any conflict to be entered into for the right reasons .

I accept for anybody sitting behind a desk watching a convoy pass through Wooton Bassett it probably does feel fairly easy to dismiss as the job they are paid to do , but different standing next to their crying bereaved families it feels a bit different and I say that as somebody who has no desire to see the military or military service fetished .

Tell us about the misdemeanour, and let the forum decide of its severity.

Attempting to nick a couple of coloured bulbs from a Christmas tree (pre Islamic rule don't forget) fixed on top of an amenity block on the wharf side. I was under the influence of rum and thought it a good idea as our tree on board looked a bit sad.. A couple of us climbed the hut but when I unscrewed the first bulb the rest of the lights went out. Hence the soldiers were alerted.

Shooting would have been too good for you......

Just been at lectures today (I know...at my age) and one was describing how the radicalisation of young Moslems and spread of hardline Madrassa schools was actively encouraged in the 80s by US Reagan administration. The youngsters were urged to go and fight jihad against the big bad enemy that had invaded Afghanistan.

Millions of texts were published for these schools in the US.

I have just Googled and there are lots of links to this including Washington Post

Never it went that far but I suppose no surprise!!!
