How many clubs from the 92 given the choice would withdraw from the FA Cup given the choice. I think it would e over 60%. What are your thoughts?

I think most lower league teams would stay in hoping for a glamour tie for the money.

Anyone not skint and with no realistic chance of winning it would probably jib it off to concentrate on the league.

Sad really

None. If the option of withdrawing was offered it'd be a green light to play a team full of reserves.

I would say none now, even with the big clubs lets face it out of the usual "top 4" only 1 can win the league so the pressures on whenever one of them (especially Utd, Chelsea and citeh) don't lift any silverware, imagine Moyes winning the FA cup this season, that could potentially save his job despite finishing outside the top 4

Villa fans are furious with Lambert, for his comments and them getting knocked out by League 1 team today.

Huge public relations own goal. A lot of fans love the FA Cup. I suppose it depends on how concerned the clubs are with connecting with their fanbase. Some clubs, as we see quite a lot (Cardiff, Villa, Newcastle) have owners/boards that couldn't care less.

Do championship teams make changes for their cup games? I have no idea. I thought it would only be Prem teams that treated it as second fiddle.

From a PR point of view, it'd be very difficult for anyone League 1 or above. QPR had a good go at it today like, unless they'd genuinely confused the centre circle for our 18yd box.

Don't all clubs have the option not to play in it anyway?

Obviously United pulled out a few years ago and caused an outcry so must clubs wouldn't actually dare but there's no law saying you have to play in it is there?

don't think it would be anywhere near as high as 60% AB. Think all league 2 and league 1 clubs have no qualms, probably the whole of the championship bar a couple who would rather focus on promotion.

But the thing is, it's mainly managers like lambert who are a bit under pressure due to a looming relegation battle complain. They can't just pick and choose when they feel the cups are a distraction. If a lambert had his team in 9th and comfortably in mid-table, he wouldn't be saying such things, nailed on. He would be looking up seeing 5th way too far out of his reach and thus the only chance of europe would be through a cup.

teams like newcastle are the ones that irritate me, i have no idea why they have a good season, qualify for europa (a very prestigous trophy) and yet say it's a hinderance.

They're never going to qualify for champions league, they must realise that, so what is the pinnacle for them?

FA Cup is great for me, League cup i'm not arsed about, but i'm still never happy whenever we lose in it, but last years league cup was a fantastic season, showed what the domestic cups in england are all about really.

no way should they be rid of,

QPR didn't play in it this year

No team outside the prem would, the lower league teams its vital for them, there was one team i heard about today who built a whole training ground on the money they made from the cup last year.

As for Lambert the jurno wrote today he regretted what he quoted, said it was out of context, the only thing better than winning the cup is winning the league,
