Interesting read on Ancelotti backroom staff's approach to training

A great article. Obviously there's been something wrong with the training routine at Finch Farm for a while so this has got to be good news. It'll make a nice change to get new signings in that last more than one game before they're out for half the season!

In short, no. I’m not saying it was inevitable, but after Pep and his ‘intense’ fitness regimes it isn’t surprising that some players felt his methods ‘lacking’.

Have they been questioned elsewhere? Is it a common trend? From all I’ve read, including the above, it was an exception rather than the rule.
And look at Citeh’s injury list right now. KDB has been touch and go injury wise the past two seasons IIRC.

1. How many times have we said that the whole side, or Player X in particular, "put in a shift, huffed and puffed, excellent work rate...." and got poor results?
2. Everyone is hurt, and it's mostly muscle pulls
3. We suck

Aggregating those data inputs leads to the conclusion that this run-around-less thing might be ok

It's nice to see the fitness side of things being addressed at least. It doesn't look to have been in rhetoric in previous appointments and you can tell it's been neglected in performances. We are a long way off being fit enough.

No idea if the plans they have will work, but at least it's being looked at.

There's a great video of Chelsea players doing a training exercise.

Fabregas was one of them and I csnt recall who the others were.

Nevertheless they have to run to some cones divided into a shape and pick up individual flags.

All except Fabregas follow the path of furthest away first then gradually going to the ones nearer the start.

Fabregas wins hands down despite being the slowest out the lot. He is more aware and uses intelligence to win over rather than simply following the others.

He wins by choosing the path with the least changes of direction I think, so he runs straight lines and retains his speed. Also lol at Willian making the coach check the distances after)

He's right in what he's saying about scrapping weight training as you're using your muscles differently as you would for football. Lifting weights and then playing football will cause more muscle injuries due to the contraction of the muscle followed by the stretch.
