Interest in Everton’s finances and in general football

It seems to be the in thing to be an armchair accountant these days.

I’ve never seen the attraction to it. I honestly think some people get off more on making a profit via trading players than seeing a new signing.

I get that money is a big part of football, but don’t try to tell me that it’s interesting. It’s as dull a subject as can be.

Feel exactly the same. Same as betting odds for me as well.

Never said you didn’t, but I didn’t grow up wanting to be an accountant, I wanted to be Neville Southall.

But there’s people out there who celebrate us being on DeLoittes like a goal.

I do agree that both ourselves and West Ham being in the "top 20" (richest) clubs in the world is entirely illusory. Especially when a team that's had a fairly decent few years- Napoli- is a space below us for instance.

I feel you’ve missed the point mate. What I’m saying is I find the sheer excitement some feel over our Excel spreadsheets baffling.

Well, I for one rank us at no1 in the world. However, those global rankings are front page news today( specifically Man utd dropping a place). Seemed to speak to your point of there much focus on finances which is why I mentioned it.

I have no interest in our finances per se, but from the Moyes era in particular it became an issue as we could have kicked on with even a modest amount of extra investment.

Since then, it's something that I take a passing interest in, as I suspect many others do.

I think if you are a fan of the super-clubs, then in terms of revenue and turnover, you simply don't need to bother yourself with the nitty-gritty anywhere near to the extent we do.

I do laugh when I see posts and tweets saying we are "rich" though, that is amusing.
