I think Chelsea will be punished. Maybe even this season. Which will probably be best for them because if it next season will mean two more seasons out of the CL. Re City by the time that one comes to court the whole landscape might have changedPress seem very surprised at the size of the deduction despite the rumours which had been swirling.
One thing I did note is that they (the journos) are all calling for City and Chelsea to be treated with the same vigour … although Henry Winter speculates that nothing will be handed down to City for at least two years as the PL are already backs to the wall with the array of lawyers City have employed and Chelsea may never be charged as it was “self reported” and under another “regime”
Anyone else not surprised?
What unfortunate events? What’s clear is that we showed an intention to stay within rules, we were transparent with the league about it but certain unfortunate events have taken us outside of it marginally. Everyone can argue about whether Everton deliberately did this and we’re definitely a shambles but a transgression worthy of a 10 points deduction? No chance.
Even if we’d just have been fined the amount we were over the limit that would have been a harsh fine but a points deduction of this size is ridiculous. I hope we don’t even settle for having it reduced to 6, we shouldn’t have any.
Cant we just start a new league?
Call it, I don't know... maybe "The first Division"
Leave the Premier League with their precious 'big 6'. Leave VAR with them and all the useless officials.
Invite in the top 6 of the Championship and just play old school English top division footy.
For the judgement to also include a green light for other clubs to sue Everton underlines the objective of the PL here: to destroy Everton FC.
Is actually correct.Describing football distances in metres rather than yards will never sit right with me.
What unfortunate events?
