2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

No … that was a lazy , poorly executed pen …

That like saying that picking a corner and putting your foot through it is the same as when Kane missed one doing the same thing.

He is confident doing what he’s doing and has scored them all so far … nobody I’m aware that takes pens regularly throughout their career has a 100% record … he will likely miss at some point but if he converts 80% plus during his time here I won’t be complaining
No it was the exact same thing but just not executed as well, I had a feeling you wouldn’t agree though.

Are people actually complaining that he scored the penalty?

He scored, that is all that matters. Moaning that he may not score a penalty one day is prime moaning for moaning sake.

On general player comments, I just love the fact that he keeps possession in such tight circumstances. He is the master of the 'the ball is glued to his foot' technique. This is why he is better out wide as he can also move their players over to double up, etc. and then in the next instance is in free space.

Both him and Grealish do need to mix up their play a bit more though, when on the edge of the penalty area, go on the outside a bit more. Get the opposition thinking, at the moment I think that they are telegraphing the inside move a bit too much.

Hardly complaining, just pointing out it's a risky technique.

Yes, but that is where the moaning for moaning sake comes into it. Every penalty has risk, obviously there will be stats to show that certain penalty techniques have a higher risk.

However, if keepers are doing research then the taker might also be doing their research and he thought that, on the day, this technique had the lowest risk factor.

He was right and that is all that matters.

And yet I wasn't moaning ( I'll save that for if he misses one) just pointing out that he could refine his technique by A: putting a bit more on the ball or B: putting it closer to the upright...or both.

Fair enough, then it is maybe more like criticising for criticising sake  .

I get your point, ta certain extent, but I just think sometimes things can be over analysed by fans. He scored, he may hit a 'better' penalty next time and it is saved. At the end of the day all that matters with a penalty is that it is scored. If he scuffed it then I am sure he will be working on not scuffing it that much again, if it was hit it like that on purpose then his technique was fine, as it went in.

Every penalty technique is a risky technique. This is madness, Henderson (one of the best at saving pens in the league) had already gone the other way by the time he hit it. Putting any more on it or aiming closer to the post would've increased the risk if anything.
Easy to YouTube, there are plenty of penalties that good keepers get both hands to but can't keep out. If you read my original post..."If the keeper guesses right that's an awful penalty"
As it was he didn't.

ineffective as a 10, had a few games there now where he’s struggled to affect the game

great as usual out wide though. grealish will keep taking the headlines but Ili is quietly on his way to 15 goals this season
