Player Valuation: £35m
Fantastic player. Best we’ve had had on the ball for a long long time. But not what we need. If any clubs still view him as a £50m player, then be practical. Sell and reinvest specifically in a fast starting wide player, and a younger development wide player (who should also be fast). Arguably 2 players with slightly different attributes, but both must be our fastest players.
As an aside, even ignoring his poor finishing and decision making on the break recently, his body language has been terrible. No communication at all with teammates. Nowhere near as diligent tracking back as last year. Visibly deciding to not run to fill space. Doing that trotting thing with extremely little steps to make it look like he’s shuffling across the pitch but really not moving.
Myko needs all the help he can get with passing options. No coincidence that Myko has passed backward more in the last 6 weeks than ever before. Ndiaye did not want the ball.
We took a free kick into the right side of their box today from really deep. Ndiaye started out left. Keane won a clean header into a massive space on the left side of the box. Ndiaye hadn’t moved. Presumably he was supposed to drift into that space against only one defender. Would have been a great chance. Keane put his arms out towards him, then turned away like he knew there was no point expecting anything else. Why stay outside the box on the left? He’s supposed to be one of our highest goalscorers. Whoever won the header, he may as well have been in the stand. Bizarre.
I don’t buy “tiredness.” At all. They all had weeks off in April then played a game a week.
He’s either got a weird injury like a hernia or rib problem meaning he will only sprint when necessary. OR he explored which other clubs were interested but was told he is still under contract, so settle in for a couple more years here.
