2025/26 Iliman Ndiaye

Flogged for months, club and country so I understand his drop off, what I don’t understand is why he is being left on the pitch when it’s obvious that he’s absolutely done. He’s not the only player that has tailed off towards the end of the season either.

He’s got a World Cup after this season as well ffs

Why are players knackered though, it's been a 40 game season, no tournament last summer. No Europe, no cup run.

United plauers are absolutely flying in large part because they've only played 40 games. Including Casemiro who looked physically done last year.

Larger squad players rested and substitutes used by managers correctly.

You only have to watch our players some of them are out on their feet from 60-70 minutes

And that is no problem. He’s not a team player, he’s fantastic in the dribble but his final third passing, shooting and decision making are all lacking.

There is better out there.

He's a good player who we should use better and retain.

If I were Ndiaye though I'd be looking at the simpleton telling me what to do in the dressing room and think "Nah, I'm getting out".

Purely on Moyes not managing his squad or using his bench properly.
We do not have a big squad, we do not have the replacements to cover for these important players.

To be fair, I think we are probably too impatient. We talk about needing three or four windows to build up our team but so far we have had only one... two if you count January but in truth the real transfer business happens in the summer.

We need genuine pace brought into the team, as good as Ndiaye is he is not pacy but would benefit hugely from playing with others who offer something different to what is there.

Also, I think in central midfield we need a genuinely creative player. Garner, Gueye, KDH all have strong points but none are creative like Wharton at Palace.

Pienaar was never pacy but if you have a fullback like Baines or Coleman, who continually make runs to overlap, then it leaves space for the wide man, or the opposition cannot double-up against him.
Ndiaye probably has better close control than Pienaar had, so could beat two but then he has no outlet outside of him, so he goes infield into an already congested middle.

He's struggled recently.

What I don't think helps him is that teams know he's pretty much our only threat so they double/triple up on him the whole time. Opposition full backs can get tight and engage him as well because they don't have to worry about an opposing full back getting on the overlap.

He also spends 70/80% of the game chasing around out of possession and in the rare times we do get on the ball in Moyes system he's more than likely receiving the ball or winning it back 40 yards deeper than ideally anybody would want him to be.

Then the 1 or 2 times he gets the ball in, or gets himself into, a dangerous area, he hasn't produced recently and that's what we all remember.

Not a team player? Absolute nonsense. It's the lack of squad around him that's the problem, a striker in Beto that mostly can't retain the football when passed to, no decent overlapping wingback, no winger on the other side. We simply need more players of raised quality levels around our best players like Ndiate and KDH. Starting with a real striker, closely followed by actual wingbacks
