Or, "I haven't seen a goal quite like that in a Merseyside derby for years" b)

Don't think this has been raised today, and I have been looking, but today marks the silver anniversary of one Graeme Sharp and THAT strike at Anfield.

It was on the afternoon of 20th October 1984 that Everton made the short journey across Stanley Park to a stadium where they had not won in the league for fourteen and a half years.

I remember it like yesterday, could not be up there that afternoon, and everyone knows the picture, Stevens hits a long ball, Sharp gets behind Lawro, Hansen was there somewhere, and bang, from 30 yards, the shot thunders past Grobbelaar, and we have a win at Anfield for the first time since the 1970 Title success, quite ironic as we go on to win another title with record points in arguably the best season I have seen as a supporter of this team going back some time.

The next week we go on to beat Manchester United 5-0 just for good measure. - No Balloons involved in either victories.

What an afternoon that was, one day if they build a tardis I'll go back an drop off outside anfield and put a bet on before I go and just rub my hands with a smug look on my face.

25 years to the day, just thought it warranted a mention, I can't guarantee I'll be around for the golden anniversary, 25 later from now.

Little did we realise the years of dross to follow it

True, but I would be safe in the knowledge, going back then, that we would go on to win two championships, participate in another two FA cup finals, and a couple of charity sheilds and days out at wembley, so I could live with that.

Two and a half years of winning and challenging would be good enough for me, even though it was barren after '87, we all lived through it.

Half time at Anfield now, wish I could be there., don't know where the time goes to really. :(

Most people from my generation expected us to rule football at that time and we did for a few short summers..................once you've tasted caviar you'll always want it again so they say..............we're still waiting and my time is fast running out

I think by the end of that season, and with the winning of the cup winners cup, we had the side to go on and win the European Cup but that chance was taken away by the events of Heysel, we know who was mostly responsible, and it just adds some more fuel to the fire, Kendall left for Bilbao, Gray was sold, that great team was soon broken up, and we could of entered the new Premiership era as one of British footballs leading lights, but it was not to be, there's no point dwelling on what might have been.

This day belongs to Sharp and that great goal and victory.

Thats one thing the red [Poor language removed] can't take away from us.

Why do you have to bring this up mate.
I share your fear and always try my best not to step my thoughts into it.
Just let me experience it one more time before my son log in to GOT and let everyone know I've rest in peace.

I was there Sturry , lad . What no-one ever mentions is the belief factor . I remember Neville Southall skipping off the pitch , celebrating , yes , but nothing uber-mega . We then went on the most pivotal run in this club's history . Loads of things went through my mind , Brian - fukn - Hall , Cormack ,Emily - Please God , No - Hughes , Ginger Super - Sub , Dalglish - ( Homosexual !!! ) , etc
I tried to drink it all in .
I've got a picture of it as me keyring . Met Sharpy a couple of years ago and told him .

Saw both games, and they were sweet. Funny thing is, the United victory wasn't even considered that amazing at the time. I stood in the Kop at the Liverpool game, singing 'Going Down'. How times have changed.

i was in the main stand down the other end, looking down on the ranks of blues that had made one side of the hill of piss their own. i also got a bollocking off johnny ball for havin a slash behind a pillar, so i shouts, "hey johnny, think of a number".
"6" was the reply
"WRONG............... 2" & flicked him a V
zoe liked it, she giggled. i wouldnt have though, she was like a lad.

YouTube - That Goal By Sharpy!

Get in !!!!

I was 12 had just got in from my usual saturday ritual of going into WHSmith an typing 10 PRINT 'daza'
20 GOTO 10

into the zx spectrum's there - and then that goal - that nervy finish and a new experience in my life - beating the shi*e away :D and realising we might just have a side capable of winning a title (y)

My first away derby was Cormack in the Kop end . So , I basically witnessed 13 of the 14 years of nightmare , AND I went to the O.T. Semi - I was a spoilt child in this respect , so I'm counting it .
One thing I do recall is the noise coming out . Last year in the league was good , but that day it was memorable . In another 9 days we would beat Utd home and away , then I began to BELIEVE .
