If you won £3 million pounds

House in Bristol and apartment in Menorca.

I'd go down to 3 days a week at work - Tues, wed, Thurs.

Learn to drive. Should have done it years ago and now it's too cost prohibitive for lessons on my budget.

Rest I'd just put away for my daughter's future.

I'd probably upgrade to a posh gym with a steam room instead of the packed council one and get a nicer second hand bike.

And go back to eating at restaurants again once a month.
£3m in the bank and work? Why? There are other interests surely.

I live in a modest house in Liverpool, I’d get the attic converted and stay put.

Then enjoy the money, cars and more holidays. Vastly reduce work hours and retire if possible.

Finally have the Saturday’s free of work to get a season ticket.

First purchase would be a Jag. XJ, late model, or an iPace.
@chrismpw twice in as many days...

Shocked me really … surely 3 million is enough for anyone of any age to be able live in very reasonable comfort for the rest of their days.
Absolutely this. But maybe society has so programmed it's worker drones that they can't contemplate not working.

my missus has spent 3 months between jobs after being made redundant, scavving a life off my hard earned pension. We thought it would be a good time, while she took a break, but she's been absolutely clueless about what to do with herself. 3 months she's spent decorating the bedroom ffs. 3 months!! I'm not going near her to ask if she wants help. There's no way I'm coming out of that conversation with credit.

3 million though …. Let’s be serious here … firstly I’d stick 2 million away in a high interest account … that leaves me with a million to have fun with. Obvs I’d sort the family out first … but that’s just mortgages …. Never ever pay in full for anything. Cars would be on finance etc… you have to keep your cash in the bank to generate the interest to fund your living costs.

I would retire as soon as I had found a replacement. However, I understand why some people would want to work. The mental challenges and sense of achievement are difficult to find in a hobby for many. I think the few that would continue working are probably those who are a) most successful career wise and b) high earners. If you earn 30k pa then 3m sounds impossible. If you're earning 250k pa then it's a goal rather than a dream

I'm very lucky to enjoy my job and work is good for mental health. Gives structure, purpose, sense of accomplishment, social interaction etc.

I'd possibly retire early if I found another way to get all that elsewhere but right now if I stopped working it would be a bit of a disaster I think.
