After buying houses for my kids, donating some to various good causes etc I would get myself a charcoal grey graphite Status bass with blue LEDs and a blue one with red LEDs. Maybe even a Rickenbacker 4001 too.

A BMW i8 would be nice, and an M3 or something similar for when I need something more practical.

Maybe even splash out on a couple pairs of gazelles as the ones I like never seem to be on special and I ain't spending $200 on a pair of shoes

I would tell no one. £3m can generate £120k a year in interest, based on 4% interest. I would continue at my job for a year, until I have generated a £120k, then pay myself a dividend from a company and other accounting methods, so I pay 10% tax so I would have £108k after tax for the year. Then I quit my job and live comfortably off that.

I would probably tell my wife that I have been promoted at work, that she can quit her job if she wants. I would build an extension on my house to create a "home office" which would essentially just be a room where I go to chill, play games, watch movies, exercise etc during the day while the kids are at school.

You dont seem to have put much thought into it.

Retire straight away with 2m put into a high interest 5 year ISA or high yield equivalent. (I'm not quite 50)
My mortgage etc would be paid off with the normal monthlies and I could support the kids through University easily.

Luxuries would be limited for now until I reach 55 and can get access to my own pension pot. From there I could buy a second home abroad and rent out my UK home for all but 90 days of the year to avoid to hateful Taxman.

I'd be quite happy tranvelling round the world without having to stay in 5*+ hotels and having servants follow me around. Not needed.
