If you were Everton manager right now, what would you do next?

4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 sack off this crappy 4-3-2-1 and 5-3-2. Kenny has too start I just hope everyone doesn't expect too much because everyone is asking for him too start. Undue pressure.

How would you set up in a 4-4-2 then?

Pickford
Holgate - Keane - Jags - Baines
Lennon - Davies - Gana - Lookman
Rooney - DCL

For me that's essentially just the same 4-2-3-1 setup I put together just with Rooney up alongside DCL instead of in the 'number 10' role. There's very little difference.

change the setup and this horrible that has plagued everton for years, were when we play away against good teams they automatically set up for a hammering, the first 10 minutes yesterday was utterly embarrassing we literally had every player behind the ball like we was defending a lead in a cup final.

Revert to 4-4-2 immediately

Unless you have athletic, intelligent wing backs the 3-5-2 just doesn't work

We don't have the personnel to play it - The sooner Koeman realises this the better

I'd play something similar to that and work on getting two tight banks of four when we lose the ball and getting runners up the pitch on the counter attack when we break. Would work on DCL getting into channels for an out ball and pinning up against full back for goal kicks etc. Just try and keep things simple and get back to basics to build some confidence. Some games I'd play DCL and Sandro as front two.

There's not much we can do, without an established out and out forward, in any shape with a lone striker.

We are easy to press because we sit so deep, our midfield are not happy accepting the ball under press, so to stop everton just press. we need to push up 20 yds at the back which enables our GK to have time to pass un pressed, we need a midfield player like Barkely who is happy to receive the ball and we need legs/pace aroung Gilfi and /or Rooney. Systems are irelevant.

We simply have to be more adventurous in our play. If you sit deep and invite pressure the entire game, chances are you will concede. We have no outlets, so our best defense in some games is to simply possess the ball a bit more. Move the line a bit higher and give yourself more options/movement. Playing a bunch of slugs doesn't really help in either regard.

Im convinced Lennon would be very effective at right wing back. Mirallas has less potential to be effective at left wing back but possibly worth a shot.

I'd probably risk playing a high line with Keane and Holgate as the CB pairing (of a 4). Our attacking players could start further up the pitch which would suit their games as they are all technically sound and able to press effectively. Try and smother less skillful teams the likes of which we're facing in the next few weeks. We'd be better able to operate in the restricted space than most I reckon.

It would be a risk but so would having a deep back 3 and the rest of team stretched with no one with the pace to exploit it.
