Interesting....was thinking about this as regards options for summer. I was thinking of how we could find reasonable options who might be intrigued by our project while weakening those teams below us.

Gylfi, Keane, Callum Wilson, Andrew Robertson, and a keeper from the Pickford, Butland, Forster group would all be proven, reasonable targets to help us build back a squad to compete on three fronts.

Arsenal: Giroud
Bournemouth: Jordan Ibe
Burnley: Joey Barton
Chelsea: Diega Costa
Palace: Benteke
Hull: Naisse
Leicester: Jamie Vardy

Southampton: Ward Prowse
Stoke: Charlie Adam
Sunderland: Darren Gibson
Swansea: can't pick one
Tottenham: Kyle Walker
Watford: Valon Behrami
West Brom: Jonny Evans
West Ham: Andy Carroll

Haha I guess that's why they call us the blues

Not a terrible sentiment behind this thread I think OP.

In the summer, I liked the idea of pilfering the best players from teams beneath us (Swansea: Williams, Palace: Bolasie, Villa: Gueye).

In keeping with that whilst being relatively realistic and also thinking about what we need, I'd go with:

Bournemouth: Wilson (CF)
Burnley: Keane (CB)
Crystal Palace: Benteke (CF)
Leicester: Mahrez (RM/ AM)
Southampton: Van Dijk (CB)
Sunderland: Pickford (GK)
Swansea: Sigurdsson (CAM)
West Ham: Cresswell (LB)
