If The Season Is A Write Off- What Do We Do Re: Team Selection?

The season to my mind isn't a write off at the moment saying this is pure stupidity. At the absolute least we need three big wins for the 40 point mark then you have a great opportunity to play some youth and tinker with some fringe players to gain some insight for next year. I would give players like Tosun and Baningame quality minutes playing with the squad. I would drop the players that don't seem fussed like Scheiderlin.

If the season was a write-off I would love us to try an Ajax style rest of the season...

Bin off anyone over a certain age... like 25, play everyone out of position so next season when they play in their correct position, they will have a better understanding of what the next guy wants from them.

For example
A defender that has played on the wing will appreciate where a good position to put the ball is and why,
A midfielder will be better at choosing the right through ball or getting into a useful position to defend depending on if he was a striker or defender.
A striker knows what runs to make if he's been an AM or winger for 6 months.

Next season would be ace, until the manager started talking to them about what Stoke did to get a mighty 0-0 draw against our upcoming difficult game v Watford or something.

Luckily there is still loads to play for so to do so would be daft, I just wanted to post something tbh.

I actually think the future could be bright:

Pickford

Coleman-Holgate-Keane-?

Davies-Gueye

Vlasic-Dowell-Lookman

?

Nucleus of a good team potentially.

At the first sign of trouble that team would fold like a deck of cards and potentially it could take ages for them to recover.

Well, I strongly disagree that this season is a write-off, but if it is, we should have a new manager in to prep for next year because this clown ain't it.

Is it for the future or for like 2 seasons time? As Coleman is 30 this year. Older than Walcott and siggy who I see being main components of our team for the next 3 years in place of dowell and Vlasic.

Also, if Onyekuru is as good as people say he is, then he will surely be in there.

I think that depends on if 7th is still within reach. Despite how bad things have been, we are still only 5 points out due to how many teams are faltering.

Our next 4 games are against teams with a combined 3 wins in 20, if we can pick up a couple of wins that puts us just about safe with 11 matches left. If top 7 is still within play you play for that, if not, and heck, even if it is, you play those who have a future here, and stop playing those you plan to ship out in the summer. That means:

Pickford
Coleman Holgate Keane Garbutt(just to see if hes worth anything, if not substitute Mangala or Kenny)
Gueye Rooney/Klaassen(for a run of games when it doesnt matter)
Walcott Siggurdson Vlasic
Tosun

And you would do that game after game to let them gel so that next season they can hit the ground running.

swap coleman for kenny then

Get 40 points up as fast as possible and then have another look at the U23s LB, CBx2, DM, AM, CF. Play 2 up front every home game and only one DM.
