If no-one else is going to say it

I think we need to find the right balance, In the main a short passing game is good but there are times when I'd like to see us go a bit more direct.

Especially in the final stages of games when we don't have any urgency to get the ball forward

Right balance is right, i dont understand why some of our fans think we can get a new manager and get this right balance right away, unbeaten in 4, going to take time this

It's not about 'balance' really though is it....playing a midfield so deep and isolating a forward every game isn't balance, its pure stupidity.

Still happy Dave ? Should have a sweepstake to see how long you get back to negativity....

Hopefully Martinez turns it around...
I'm suicidal not having lost in the opening four games. If only we could lose I'd be a lot more inclined to top myself.

God damn you Martinez.

Again this. It's great having five midfielders tapping it about 35-40 yards away from goal, but all the opposition do is let us and laugh while they pack two men on the striker and wait for the inevitable mistake when someone tries to break through from midfield to attack and the Hollywood pass is intercepted.

I don't agree really.

Why for the past few games do we sit on the edge of the opposition box and pass it from left to right and deliver poor crosses?

We've no player that can split a defence

....or no forward capable of making the run.

That's what I said though - whether we work it out wide and try and pick out one man marked by three, or we try to look for the late midfield run, we're giving the ball away as we don't have the capability in midfield to play the system at the moment.

Blaming the movement of the striker is ridiculous given the way we're playing.

This Tiki - Taka nonsense is ridiculous.

I'm lost as to how keeping the ball with a deep midfield and short passing is going to win football matches? If the striker is totally isolated then you may as well just stick an 8ft giant up front and lump it up to him...little short passes gets you nowhere.

ANY inferior side to us can simply stick men behind the ball and wait for 'Zidane' (Osman) to pick their defence apart, in reality it isn't going to happen when they can defend in numbers.

The comments I made previously about these new signings (other than the loan which I wasn't negative about) are now making a bit more sense, Kone is a total donkey and NEVER a first choice striker....if he was and bearing In mind Martinez signed him, then why isn't he starting in front of or alongside jelavic ? TOTAL waste of money, Alcaraz signing on fee and wages are worthless for an injury prone player who, if Heitinga stays means were wasting money on one of them....

We are literally Liverpool without Suarez, I was critical of his signings but I assumed Martinez would initiate some of the attacking play we had under Moyes at times.

At this rate we'll be the best passers in the league over 6 yards....and no 7th place trophy.
I'm pretty sure this isn't the final idea mate. I'd suggest that Martinez is still trying to instill the idea of keeping the ball to a team who were trained to play the percentages. Once the players get used to it and are comfortable with it I'm confident that the passing and movement will get slicker and quicker. Then we'll see something approaching the combination of good footie and good results that we all crave.
I've been watching football and watching Everton too long to say it's defo going to be great but I've been watching them too long to write this guy off. I won't say it's not frustrating me at the moment coz the goals aren't going in but I'm optimistic to be honest. I think it's going to come good.
