I liked his goal. Maybe he should play in a more attacking position.

In fact, he shouldn't even be in the position he currently is - solid defensive mid, who shone when he did just that - defended in midfield. Since he's started going forward he's been extremely meh and gets lost a lot.

Lets not forget he tries shots like that every game and 90% of the time misses badly.

Arsed. He shot, he scored. In a season when we had 6 consecutive games with a total of 6 shots between them - I'd say he A) doesn't do it every game and B) finally, someone shooting! Yay!

It’s is not my intention to be confrontational; I simply love talking football and am willing to acknowledge that I am not all knowing. So specifically, what aspects of his performance are you unsatisfied with? I’d genuinely like to know what measurable evaluation is being used to arrive at the conclusion that he is anything less than our top performer in the squad.

He's not the top performer by a long shot, or at least wasn't. Right now honestly no one's a top performer sadly.
He used to be last year - broke up play extremely well, did the simple things with ease, tackled, won the ball, impressed.
Now he's, for some reason, not playing to his strengths just so Schneiderlin can play as... well, Schneiderlin - lazily.

I'm not a fan of him or anything. Far from it, just think he has upped his game somewhat lately to where he at least looked passable.

Nope, totally agree. Would’ve been nice if he did that before it meant nothing.
