Was the first full 90 minutes I've watch him (I know I know).. and what impressed me was his go forward. I expected the tackles and break up of play, but he is what I have been hoping Besic will give us. That principle that we should be driving forward whenever the opportunity is there and not play back or sideways for no reason.

2 plays stood out for me: The fact that he sprinted his life out to follow the action up field for the goal, leaving the DFM for Sunderland strolling back in his dust; and secondly he was supporting Baines in a defensive action and 2 minutes later was on the other side supporting Coleman. Amazing.

Was anyone else surprised at how far forward he was getting, and the advanced positions he was ending up in? I didn't realise he gets forward that much - thought he was more of a holding midfield who sits in front of the back four.
