El Pres is chatting complete fluff. Distin had the audacity to question why defence was being neglected so martinez transferred him as quick as he could, went to bournemouth played a season, FT away our side all went to him and hugged him. Think it was a draw.

A sad way for it to end, but not in vein, the sacrifice he made helped get rid of the shyster martinez and we survived onward.

He should be deciding if he's staying or going. No issue if he wants to go for a final payday, but he deserves a good send off so it should be sorted one way or another soon.

Yeah it was quite a surprise how quickly his level dropped.

One moment he was imperious and then his legs went. I think he was given a few games to see what the issue was and then moved on to Bournemouth.

Barely played there and packed it in.

The concern for someone like Gana isnt his ability or desire...its simply that due to his age its been common for players to dramatically drop off when their legs go.

Im struggling to think of anyone with a similar energy who has lasted as long as him tbh.

Don’t think he’s as explosive as Distin at all. He isn’t slow but his best asset is his brain/stamina.

Distin was always awful positionally but his pace and physicality got him out of trouble. Once that went it was a proper cliff face. I can’t see Gana doing that, more a slow decline as his timing goes off (like Young, who was very good for Villa still two years ago, you can see his timing and reactions have slowed now).

I think you're underselling him at £30m, because whilst he's getting on now and isn't the best on the ball, his influence on the team can't be understated.

He's someone who just 'clicks' into our squad and setup.

Then we're not doing a great job to convince him to sign the extension. He deserves a big increase...I would even be tempted to offer him 2 years. Knowing the club, it's probably one year extension on reduce terms.

This is the type of thinking that got us where we were.

Yes, he should be re-signed for another season. But he'll be 36 towards the start of next season and likely will miss a big chunk of time with AFCON. Two years and an increase is a bit crazy.
