His legs are going or gone. It matters a lot less here than with a true box-to-box guy. Busquets was 33 at the Euros and still the beating heart of the squad.

Reading the game correctly, the way Busquets and Gana do, can save a lot of run time. It's a role that can be played into the mid-thirties by a talented enough player. You get a diminished version that you can't flog for minutes the way you could when they were 20, but you still get a player.

Not sure we can really expect him to use the ball the way Busquets does.
 
This is a big deal for me. I watched most of Senegal's games at the ANC and he ran all of them. Even if he hasn't quite got the legs he used to, he's still excellent at all the basic aspects of midfield play. It'll make a huge difference to have another player in there who can reliably receive the ball and know what to do with it.
 
Hope he has kept fit and starts tomorrow. Can't wait to see him back in the team doing his thing and his mind boggling tackles where in some cases opponents don't even realise they no longer have the ball. lol
