People are suggesting James McCarthy who has not kicked a ball in over a year and had barely kicked one for a season before that should start against the best team in England and one of the best in Europe?

I have seen some shouts on here but....

No knock on McCarthy either who I rate but throwing him in cold like that would be utter madness.

He looks to have had an issue there for a while now. Keeps struggling and touching it (oo er) later on in games.

He´s not the weak link as such. He´s just another player in a squad that has found their level. We have ambitions of competing properly with the best teams in the league, I don´t think we can do that with Gueye as a first choice midfielder.

He's perfectly fine to be a top squad player for where we need to be. I admit we need a better starter eventually, but that's looking 3 windows ahead. We have so many other areas that need addressing before thinking of getting replacing gueye. He's our only player producing the best stats in his position in the league.

No way he lasts 3 windows. Hasn’t got the passing ability or the defensive understanding to play the number 6 role in silvas team.
