Gana Gueye lacked urgency and precision at times against Man Utd, or putting it another way... he showed a lack of discipline. That's not really like him, so I'm not that concerned.

It's a big ask to think Tom Davies or even Garner can nullify Kane next weekend when he drops into that space 30 yards from goal. At least Gana has that knowledge from years of playing in CL in how to position himself.

Won't be so quick to move the ball forward either as Lampard will have learnt plenty from 5-0 horror show so it will be more sit in and keep it tight for as long as possible.

Did he not have that knowledge tonight? Left it at home, perhaps?

This idea that PL/CL experience and winning mentality etc, should be valued over actual form is part of why we’ve been so crap for the last few years. He was awful tonight and Garner looked decent when he came on.

We need to reward good form and not bad.

Piss poor tonight but we are a far far better side having him available than not. He's a top professional and if his standards slip he'll know he'll get dropped and will then be ready again.

We need Competition and strength and he provides it in spades.

He's never been great in possession. Just gets exposed when we're up against better teams who press him.
