F*cking hell pal where are we getting that money from?

Not gonna lie, the Donovan one was pure speculation (More like a wish/hope) but I thought it was reasonable given age, contract situation, and comments regarding his uncertain future. I just wanted to engender some debate, feel free to disagree with my evaluations. I had no desire to make them definitive.

butland's too young imo to be starting for a club as big as us, i'd rather go for someone like mignolet who can replace howard as 1st choice now - but this situation won't be resolved in jan. Think bham may want more than 6 mill for butland as well. We need a backup striker

That's the thing, it rests on a knife edge. Carson Yeung is up on money laundering and fraud charges, and his assets have been accordingly frozen. It's been this way for 18 months. If Birmingham can't find significant investment by January, they will be forced to sell, and I think it's the only way we'll get him for anything near the £6 million reported. I'm also not sure if he'll be ready to start, I'd be happen to loan him back to Birmingham for 6 months, but I think we'll have to both hope they fail to find investors and act quickly to get him, or face losing a great prospect.
£6 - £8 million for a potential star in the making, who at 21, could give us a good 15 years return on our investment.

Don't think we should make a bid Butland. He won't be cheap and I think Howard will still be our number 1 in the coming years. I agree that a back-up striker would be a good idea, I don't even want to think about a possible injury of Jelavic. Would be a disaster. But it's all about the money lads.
