Ian Ross Statement

Maybe his mate needed someone in Spain to be his eyes and ears on the ground at the club and offered more cash than we did

I hope Ross is lying. Was hoping it would be related to an imminent call in. Still, with the amount of bollocks that fella spouts, I can still hope.

Can't believe a word of Ian Ross's spin.
Guaranteed when whatever news breaks it won't be along the same lines.

I emailed him to ask him what the hell is going on, didn't expect to get any response, but I did. I basically asked why the club are lying to the fans, and have been for a while. I implied that BK, Wyness and himself were part of the same decietful machine. I feel I have a right as a fan to ask questions about why we have been lied to.

But mainly I was asking him why Moyes hasn't been given money to sign players, as the season was closing in.

He basically said that Moyes has millions to spend (as was reported the day before, don't remember reading that), and that I should not read into rumours. He then said he didn't take kindly to being called a liar.

I responded by asking him if can categorically confirm Moyes has money to spend, and he has basically responded to that by taking offence that I called him and Wyness liars, and flatly refused to answer any questions, but he is doing like this:

"Why should I answer a question when you have called me a liar".

Using the fact I have rightly called him a liar as a method of deflecting from the issue.

Its still going on, love to meet this cretin, I really would.

More deflections there Ian. You've obviously gotten quite good at it.

I have called you a liar, because you, Kenwright and Wyness have lied to the fans, there is no escaping that fact.

If you can't handle the truth then perhaps you should follow Wyness to Spain.

Me rude?

My god, you really need to look at yourself pal, I'm not the only Evertonian who feels this way. If you go on Bluekipper, GrandoldTeam, Toffee Web, NSNO - homes of real fans who talk about real issues, you will see that your not really seen in a very good light. But then your probably like Wyness and only care about your own pay packet.

The fact you have decided not to answer my question, and to use my apparent rudeness as the deflector, is all the information I need. Moyes doesn't have the money, and things are not going well at Goodison, at all.

Goodnight to you.

Ian,

I thought you were the PR representative for the club? Having good relations with the public.

The nerve? I am the customer, you should really treat the fans with a bit more respect. Apparently I am not the only fan who has felt the sharp end of your tongue.

As for lying, the club has been lying to the fans for years. Its so poorly run its a joke, why was it released that the Kirkby project was costing the club nothing in terms of new debt, but then after the vote went in the favour of moving, the project debt for the club hit £100m. Is that not lying to the fans? Or to put it less destructive, bending the truth?

I'm not attacking you as a person, because I don't personally know you outside of Everton, but you are responsible for information coming out of the club, and when the real fans are left upset at the current situation, and confused my conflicting reports then we have a right to ask what the hell is going on?

Nick

What's the point in asking me? You have never met me or spoken to me - yet you see fit to impune my integrity by calling me a liar
And then you have the nerve to ask me questions.....why? I'm a liar

Ian,

Can you catagorically say to me that Moyes does have money to spend, and that he is going to be spending that in the next two weeks?

I'm not listening to rumours, I am reading comments that David Moyes himself said last night in Chicago. What does he mean by a poor, poor situation? I am also reading between the lines and formulating a situation in my head. I'm quite intelligent and when you hear things that don't quite add up, it kind of sets alarm bells ringing.

As for lying, I'm sure your just doing your job - and are forced to put spin on things by those above you. I've worked in a PR agency and I kind of know how the machine works. I was not meaning to cause you offence, but it's not like you haven't said one thing, only for it to be the exact.

Did you not email a fan to tell them that Wyness was not quiting his job, right at the same moment that he actually did quit?

Nick

As the manager made clear only yesterday he has millions to spend, AJ left because he wanted to....green has never put a penny into the Club
And I don't take kindly to bring accused of lying

Ian,

As PR representative of the club, I feel that you should be coming out
with statements to allay the fears of the people who pay your wages.

You may well be putting out fires all over the place, but I don't
really care. I have poured my life and soul into Everton for the past
25 years. Spend many hard earned penny's on the club, I think I
deserve to know what is going on.

Does Moyes have money? because it doesn't sound like it. There may
well be rumours abound about Green not playing anymore, Wyness jumping
ship because of that fact, AJ going to fund loan repayments. If it
was just rumour, then there are an awful lot of coincidences occurring.

Moyes' comments last night about the situation being poor - does it
take the manager to tell it how it is to lift the lid on the constant
lying we get from those above. I'm talking about you, Wyness and
Kenwright. Constantly lying at every opportunity. There is a great
manager there who is doing his job very well, shame nobody else at the
club is following suit.

If I worked for Everton and I had a supporter pepper me with questions like that, I'd probably be a bit miffed too.

Not defending him or getting on you Ghost.

Just putting myself in his shoes.

He's in a high position at a high profile organisation. Regardless of whether or not I have called him a liar, he has continued to react in a way not befitting someone of his position. Or he's just doing what PR do, and spin rather testing questions.

Some guy on NSNO has wrote a reply template that Mr Ross could use, little bit more professional.

In any of the companies I have worked for though, if you treated the paying customer like Ross appears to do (I have never conversed with him myself) then you wouldn't last five minutes.

Whatever is thrown at him he should at least remain professional and polite. It's not easy, and on one hand the fact that he personally responds is great.

Sometimes he needs to just bite his lip a bit. People would have a very different opinion of things off the field if the club changed their attitude in small ways like this imo, even if the actual situation wasn't any different. A lot of it is about the fans' perception imo.

I'm not great at grammar myself, so I can't really comment on grammar. but as head of communications in any walk of life I'd expect the club's official mouthpiece to have immaculate grammar.

Especially one earning alot more then most of us do.

You would think he is under alot of stress at the moment though, He doesn't have to answer all those e-mails personally he could just post bog standard replies "thank you for your email - blah blah blah." But he doesn't he actually replies. Ther are probably genuine evertonians asking genuine questions who he could percieve to be wind up merchants which is probably why he is very off with you in those E-mails. He's probably thinking oh no here we go again.

I know he gets a rough ride on NSNO so he's probably weary of anyone posting as an Everton fan and to be honest given his situation I would be too.

I don't agree with calling him a liar and the like because at the end of the day he's only doing his job my one complaint is the style in which he writes. If he could be a little more official in his responses I think people would like him alot more then they do now. But it's easy to say that when I don't have a whole website dedicated to ruining my name.

I certainly won't argue with you in that regards (treating the paying customer respectfully) but why is it that supporters think they can just email/phone up the head PR guy of a professional sports team and think they'd get answers?

If someone here in the States tried that with my local MLB team (Houston Astros) they'd be told in no uncertain terms "no comment" as it's really none of their business. If they were accused of "constant lying," they'd be laughed at and rightfully so.

Sure, they could vote with their feet and quit going to games all because they didn't get the answers they liked or answers period but they'd be in the very small minority. Just because you buy a ticket to the game, you think you can get answers whenever you feel like asking? Heh. I don't think so.

Personally, I wouldn't waste someone's time with it but then that's just me.

I honestly cant believe he replied like that, its no different to the banter you get on here.

And coming from the head P.R. guy it bloody well should be a lot different.

No sign of professionalism to be seen, disgraceful behavior.

Has anyone found Moyes statement that he had 'millions to spend'? I've been looking for 10 minutes and can't find it, despite the fact it was yesterday. Therein is Ian Ross' lack of ability in his job. As someone has rightly pointed out his standard response should be 'no comment' on things that could get him into trouble.
He is a firefighter for the club who thinks he is chairman of the board
