McBain

Player Valuation: £80m
I think you really have to take the guys mental state into consideration here before you write him off. His first goal for two years!! And he celebrates by looking up to the big fella and good on him.

Look at his speed, his skill, and the fact that a manager notorious for blooding even prem regulars like Jags and a host of others has given him the edge over Ozzie. And Ozzie was playing well to start off.

Im not being positive for the sake of it, because you definatley need constructive critism, but this guy so obviosly feeds off confidence, more so than most and he's been through the emotional ringer with Borussia. Hyped, failed, slagged, shoved off to another team. If he can build on the performance against Boro, he will be more than useful.

Yeah he looks pretty useful he needs a good run in the team though to settle in and i,d like to see him in the centre of midfield to add some skill and speed there thats if he can dislodge neville and jagielka.

I think we need to replace:

Tim Howard
Baines
Lescott
Yobo
Hibbert
Jagielka
Stubbs
Neville
Pienaar
Osman
Carsley
VDM
Arteta
Cahill
Yakubu
Johnson
Anichebe
Vaughan
McFadden
Wessell

They are all [Poor language removed] and they need to be replaced.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

theres no arteta in that list or gravesen, neither have derby goal immunity :D

pienaar can pass, and pass well, he can read space and get himself or the ball into it. he is getting the wavelength of the players, and they are tuning into his frequency as well.

rock on!

I remember Arteta joinging and thinking there was potential but he was a bit light and didnt get stuck in. Very similar to how Pienaar has been on occasions.

So if Mr Pie can turn out to be half the player Arteta has become we have a very useful player on the books.

Arteta is there, and I haven't edited it. But Gravesen is missing, that's because I now think he's the bollocks. 30 minutes of football and he did more than he did during a whole career in Spain and Scotland.

What an odd thread. Were you expecting people to come on and disagree and say he was crap?

He is a good player, and with some hard work I could see him being a very good player. He still seems to lack something for me though. I think it is agrression or a touch of arrogance about his play. Maybe with a better reputation this side of his game will develop(in the minds of the players he is up against if not in himself).

Still think there is a hairs breadth between Osman and Pienaar though. Maybe with Pienaar having the edge slightly for his style of play, but Osman has a wonderful touch on the ball and the ability to turn and run at goal (which not a lot of our players can do). Interchangeable for me, but Osman more centre and Pienaar more a wide man.

For me they are too similar, the one who beefs up a bit adding weight to a slight frame would settle it for me although I suspect that Pienaar has more stamina at present giving him the edge(y)

Pienaar, just another good acquisition by Moyes, even if it is only on loan.

Squad depth was an issue before the season started and certainly in the midfield area.

Pienaar certainly gives Moyes some more options.

He has some nice touches and seems to be getting used to the pace in the Prem, strangely its tonight where you might see him play his best as its not going to be kick and rush style.

Give him time and see what he can do.

Was obvious he was quality, he was in the brilliant ajax side and was fantastic for them.

With you on this. he needs more time to get used to the game but has shown encouraging signs.

Put it this way if he is still going missing as much at the end of the season as he has at times so far I wont be screaming for us to buy him.

PS i thought he was awful in the first metallist leg - although with arteta to look after him I expect much more today.
