City? Plus, a lot weren't as close to the bottom of the hill as we are, leaving us only the upward direction to go in. (Touches wood).
City didn't build a stadium they were given one.

Southampton went bust as did Bolton, Boro have vanished as have Sunderland, Arsenal stopped winning the league and remain in decline as are Derby County, Hull, Wigan and Swansea.

Robust talisman Harry Kane suddenly a long term casualty at Spurs - purely coincidental as the new stadium arrives ??? I think not - the curse will kick in big time, they'll be relegated next year

I stand corrected there is one - Leicester

Everton did well when they built a new stadium in 1892. Came third that season (Newton Heath were bottom). Worth another shot, surely
And DCL just did one flying under the ball header.
Can't wait to seeing us play 2-2-6. Tosun, Calvert-Lewin, Niasse, Kean and two loan signings leading an exciting forward line. Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin meanwhile protecting the midfield and Keane and Baines dominating the defence.

I can see why you don't believe in climate change caused by humans now.

Not buying the 'curse', but impressive/depressing examples, otherwise.

Fair article. I suspect we're not as bad as Sunday's game suggests. The league position suggests we're about midway in the elite 20 or so clubs in the country which contains one of the top three leagues in the world. We obviously don't stink except in relative terms to other teams above us.

Ancelotti and his coaching team are my main comfort in all this. He has been at a number of the very top clubs. He knows how they are set up and work. He should bring this know how into Everton. We are almost 3 weeks in to his reign. I don't think he has had anywhere near enough time to work with the players in a meaningful way that will see them improve. If I was a player at Everton or an up and coming player not quite ready for the superclubs like Barca or Real, I'd want to come work under Ancelotti and show that I can succeed under him in what will soon (hopefully) replicate a superclub style management and organisation at Everton. As this progresses, guess what Everton could become itself? Like City or Atletico, it's possible to become a destination club from humble-ish beginnings if you get everything right. It takes time and patience, but I think Ancelotti could be a keystone in getting there.

The other things, like new stadium, Moshiri/ Usmanov backings/ DCL turn around/ etc. will only flourish if we turn things around behind the scenes and build a team and see progress with them as they themselves see positive progress.

A long work in progress. I hope we have the stamina and patience for it.

I'M NOT READING ALL THAT LAD
