We should all be thankful that Bill brought Moyes to the club, and that Moyes brought good players in - regardless of the fact that he ruined a few of them. However, that phase is over and Bill has done the trick again (it amazes me that Bill doesn't get the praise he deserves for his appointments). Moyes thought he was our stepping stone to Utd. What he didn't realize was that he was our stepping stone to Roberto.

I can't think of who might come in when Bob eventually leaves but the thought of going back to Moyes style of play is the stuff of nightmares! Strange how things change, eh?

Nope, we've had a builder in Moyes, now we have a tactician to take what Moyes built and progress us.
Should we find ourselves back in relegation fights with no money, prospects or ambition, I would hope we could find someone else like Moyes, because when we needed him to get us away from the precipice of relegation, he came through for us and then some, breaking the elite 4, getting into Europe, getting to a final, but ultimately never being quite good enough or lucky enough to win any silverware.
Now we need Martinez to get us to the next level, who can use his contacts and tactical ability, combined with evolving the great team that Moyes built to try to overcome the heavily stacked odds, and who so far looks capable of doing just that.

Should we find ourselves in constant relegation battles with no money, no players and no prospects, a Moyes type manager would be required again, but not Moyes, too much bad blood now from his comments and bid attempts.

I like that E'63:

Everton was Moyes stepping stone to United and Moyes was Everton's stepping stone to Martinez.

Why would he come back here? he is the manager of the biggest football team in the world

edit: didn't read the full question sorry!

Haha no! It's like when you've been with a girl for a while and you feel like you proper love her and then she leaves you and breaks your heart. Then you see her a month later without any emotional attachment and wonder what the hell you were thinking!

For the record, I'm guessing Tony Hibbert voted yes.

I havn't looked at the whole thread but would the 2 who voted yes unmask yourselves just so i can ask them ''WHAT ARE YOU THINKING

Messi is back, Neymar is doing OK, Iniesta etc are still playing. Martino has it good at Barcelona and they will win the Spanish League so the issue doesn't arise.

Say we have an amazing season, finish in the top 4 and win the fa cup. Barcelona then offer Roberto the manager's job and, after much soul-searching, he decides it's too good to turn down.

Meanwhile Moyes has been sacked by Man U after finishing outside the top 6.

Would we have him back?

Never mind all that lid. By the time Bob gets off we'll be better than Barcelona and we'll be naming a stand after him.
