How will Martinez`s tenure be remembered?

Give me our most enjoyable season in decades and genuine belief back. Then depressed and frustrated me for 2 years

This above all.

Between November 2013 and April 2014 he gave Evertonians a glimpse of their glorious heritage and demonstrated what the future can be like.

And in the autumn of 2014 led his team on a blitzkrieg round Europe.

I think that is what will stick in people's minds more than this season.

Especially if the new bloke takes Bobby's squad and kicks on with it.....Bobby will be lauded for helping assemble it.

It will be the opposite of Gordon Lee.

Gordon is remembered for his last, dire season........and the three seasons of excellent football which saw us involved in the title race twice and make two F.A. Cup semi finals is forgotten about.

But hey.....I know none of us are confident but you know what?

He ain't gone yet.

We ain't dead yet.

This may yet have a triumphant ending and a fond farewell.

Forza Bobby.

Viva Everton ;)

Emblematic of a breed of manager who a) put psychology, ideals, philosophies and other theoretical approaches over and above pragmatism and working on team shape / structure; and b) are able to talk a good game yet ultimately are shown to be seriously full of hot air.

See also Rodgers, B.

As the title suggests, as I believe he is in the the last 36 hours of his Everton career
how will he be remembered ?

I think nice bloke, but out of his depth on all levels, cracked under pressure towards the end.
Like that of a car salesman, sells you the car with gleaming alloys on it . And when you collect it , it's got wheel covers on . Nothing more than a Charlatan

There have been some incredible performances to remember, mostly from that first season. The 3-0 home to Arsenal, the 3-0 away to Newcastle, and the 1-0 away at United from the first season stand out for me.

The 3-3 draw in the Goodison derby that season was probably the best game I've ever watched live, and also a microcosm of the good and bad of Martinez's time in charge: some great attacking football, some shocking defending, and a joy to watch for the neutral.

Ultimately I think I'll remember it as the time we had the best squad of players we've ever had in my lifetime, but failed to make anything of it. A team and "philosophy" that promised so much but disappointed again and again.

Not ashamed to say that I loved Martinez

But like with Moyes...when I falled from the "grace" I falled hard. Now I cant stand either of them.

I will remember the first season and its beautiful footy + loan moneyball that shook and changed the loan markets

there is one possible big thing worth of mentioning but I doubt it will happend (the cup)

I'll remember Martinez as a gifted communicator who was the chief victim of his own faith in his personal ideology of football over pragmatic considerations.

It was a beautiful picture he painted, that "sin miedo" picture, after so many years of dour ginger practicality and phlegmatic football. He believed in himself and his team, but was eventually overwhelmed by the rolling collapse of his last eighteen months. He had us going for awhile though, me as much as any of us. I wish him well in the future and hopes he learns from this, even though it's too late for him here.

On to what the future brings. He needs to learn from this, so must Everton, and so must we all.
