How stupid are Manu?

United don't need to win the league for this roll of the dice to work. They just need to finish 4th.
This. They need to be in CL next season. Can't see it myself with their squad but their huge spending is aiming at this.

PS....bloody frustrating when a team can spend in 1 summer what we can be sold for....

Van Gaal saying his task is more difficult at ManU than it would have been at Spurs. What a load of rubbish. I'd like to see him try to spend 121m net in a single window at Spurs. From a neutral perspective, I kind of liked LVG at first but his constant whine is making me dislike him a lot already.

The thing is, Spurs always finish around 6th-8th spot and aren't expected to win silverware - no-one bats an eye lid. At Man Utd you are expected to finish in Top 4 minimum requirement and rightly so after what we've spent.

Much more pressure in the Old Trafford hotseat.

You're completely right. We won't get near the league title this season, our fans and manager know this - we're realistic, we are not Liverpool supporters. 4th and we're laughing. Then in the summer, we get rid of the rest of the dross, add another CB and another midfielder and we go again. (LOL)

I have actually got worse mate and the language even worse. It's the desperation for a bloody trophy that gets me so wound up. I swear I would be a better man, father and husband if Everton just won me a bloody trophy once every couple of years ;)

Mate I'm the opposite! The crapper we are, the quieter I am, I don't even leave my seat half the time. When we're playing well (those were the days!) I'm jumping around and swearing like a head case! I better get used to more quiet evenings haha.

I can hear the neighbours thinking "You're not singing anymore!!!!!" and they've got a point. Back down to Earth with a bump. I'll be alright with no trophies for a long time but I just want us to play something that resembles football again! :D

I'm not a big fan of De Gea. I think that Fergie would have signed someone like Begovic or even Valdes if he was still there now.

Even with the new signings, I don't think they really have any defenders who enjoy defending. Rojo looks like a cross between a left-sided centreback (in a three) and a leftback. Presumably they tried to tempt Dortmund into swapping Hummels for Kagawa. He would have been perfect for them. As a stop-gap I thought that LVG might have tried to take Vlaar from Villa to give leadership to Jones and Smalling.

They don't have any defensive midfielders either. Fellaini can't cover the ground and gives away too many soft fouls, Blind is more of a utility player and Herrera is a box to box midfielder.

If they want to play two up top and Di Maria then surely Mata will have to move out wide or be sacrificed. It seems like they've bought as many big names as they could and that they'll think about how to play them later. It doesn't look like the blend is right to me though. Van Persie was already complaining about players taking up the spaces that he wants to play in and he could find it even more difficult if he's joined up front by Falcao.

I agree with Phelan that United shouldn't be jettisoning English players like Welbeck and Cleverley. They're still very young and they're good enough to be squad men at least.

Falcao is the new RVP.

Theyve bought Herrera and Shaw who Moyes wanted, di maria who is their big name and Vam Gaal admits doesnt really know where to play him + Rojo who was out of the blue.

Blind seems to be the only LVG signing of the lot and who knows if he is physical enough for the league.

Theyve then got in Falcao in the hope he can be a one hit wonder and fire them the goals to 4th just like RVP got Alex the title In his last season.

I'm sure it's lies and statistics and all that, but I saw a stat yesterday suggesting that when you take penalties out, Welbeck actually had a better goals/minute ratio last season than Falcao.

This sounds like the work of a RAWK Statistician

To be fair, he hasn't actually done all that much for Monaco. He was great for Atletico and Porto, but we've seen the likes of Forlan and Hulk do wonders for them before struggling at other teams. His international record is also relatively modest.

You get the impression people are thinking he'll be banging in a goal a game for them. I'm not so sure.

Yeah it does seem that they think him and Di Maria are going to be the saviours of their season, both good players but I can't see them making as significant an impact as people suggest. Hopefully I'm not proven wrong because that'll most likely mean Utd are doing fairly well, and I don't want that.

He only played 22 times for Monaco.

Got his third knee injury of his career in January.

Pretty humble expectations, provided that Ferguson never finished below 3rd in the table

*Sorry, that's PL table only. He did finish below 3rd, but to remember that you'd need a pretty expansive memory.
