Atenolol - Both myself my older brother & late mother were on it - = diabetics Mk 2 - I googled it when I first got the internet 7 bang = this can cause type 2 Diabetes in most patients on it only for OAPs etc - destroys the pancreas in time - they cost back then 3p per tablet ....
"What is the major side effect of atenolol?

More common
  • Blurred vision.
  • chest tightness.
  • cold hands or feet.
  • confusion.
  • difficult or labored breathing.
  • dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position.
  • sweating.
  • unusual tiredness or weakness."
Are you genetically more predispositioned to side effects to pancreas? Only a quick look, and I've found no mention of diabetes.

found it -

Yes, the blood pressure medication atenolol (a cardioselective beta-blocker) has been heavily associated with and accused of increasing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Studies have shown that older beta-blockers like atenolol can cause adverse metabolic effects, including increased insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels, particularly with long-term use.
I was on 100mg - never lost many snooker games being on that tablet .....
