Horse Racing

….weird how some races are particularly lucky over the years. Posters know my concentration is on the Cheltenham Festival but I’ve had some decent touches on the Northumberland Plate, that continues today.

i’m on holiday but managed a nice 298-1 e/w double: Calling the Wind @ 16-1 & Batal Dubai 11/2. The kind bookie has also give me a £5 free bet which is going straight on Cheltenham.

My daughter was sat next to a racehorse owner on the way back from Malaga recently. He’s excited about 2 horses, Crest of Glory and Crest of Fortune. He was convinced that Crest of Glory will win at Cheltenham.

….a few years ago I went to the Arc with my son when it was held ad Chantilly. Got the train back to Paris and a bloke sitting opposite with his wife told me he ‘worked in the City’ & had a horse called Baccus that won as a 2yo at Windsor but has had a bad injury. He has it at home in his own stables but it will come back and be aimed at one of the big Royal Ascot handicaps. 18 months later it won as predicted at 33-1 and I only noticed after the race

Crest of Glory is with a trainer who knows the time of day & he won his bumper in decent style. If it’s Aimee’s at Cheltenham it’s likely to be the Supreme or Ballymore. He’s only priced up with Unibet (40-1 for both) which is a firm I don’t have an a/c for. I like the look of him and might see if I can get him priced elsewhere.

Can he run in the bumper at Cheltenham?

Can he run in the bumper at Cheltenham?

..…nope, pretty certain he can’t after winning one last season but they’ll be wanting to run him over hurdles anyway.

Actually watched his bumper win back. It was a very valuable 2mile bumper at Newbury on 25th March, which he won by 15 lengths. The YouTube clip includes the post-race interview with jockey, Aiden Coleman.

Coleman said the trainer had been going on to him about this horse since December so he knew he was decent. Coleman said something along the lines of “he’s a relentless galloper and will definitely step up in trip next season’. That suggests to me he’s not a 2 mile speedster so we can discount the Supreme.

Ballymore (2m 4f) or Albert Bartlett (3m) certainly most likely if he’s good enough. Bet365 have him in their list Bartlett list at 33-1 with cash-out.
