It's a funny sport really. I heard about it through a "friend of a friend" who owns the horse and they were very confident. I guess the beauty of the sport is that there's the 25% uncertainty of whether the horse will run it's true race.
..well they're animals and they can't tell you if something is wrong on the day of the race. It might have a slight injury or a virus or perhaps another horse was just better. I have a bet, if somebody passes on a word I'll usually have a small bet on it if it's not to short a price but most tips bite the dust so there's no harm done if you treat it as a bit of fun.
I wouldn't worry mate, as @Eggs said you're only trying to win people a few bob. I get tips myself for Gosdens but I never go mad on them and to be honest the lad who calls me just tells me they're working well and expected to run well.
On the subject, I'm told Gosden has a very good string of 3yo maidens for this coming season.

has anyone on here ever paid for the advice on which horses to lay?? a few years a go there were a few sites that popped up, offering info on horses , and would give you 3 or 4 a day for a premium.
i never signed up, but just wandered if it was all just a scam?? are they still doing it ?

Gosdens are usually ready fto but historically prices can be very short. I remember when the internet was just staring up, there was an Irish bookie called Luvbet who used to price up all races the night before. I used to back Gosden's 2 year olds at about Evs and they'd win at about 1/3
. Needless to say the bookie went bust, although luckily not owing me anything. They used to send you a cheque for your winnings!! God I'm old.

Yeah, Towcester horse racing course has spent proper money developing it, part of the development is the dog track that now runs in the centre of the course.
Makes money for the place on non horse racing days.
The track now has the greyhound Derby due to wimbledons closure.
I'm not sure if they do an afternoon horse meet followed by an evening dog card.. Be a proper day out that like.
Never heard of the horses to lay advice line.
There was a few tipsters who would give horses to win, I called them a couple of times but they were odds on anyway, never bothered again.

That's a bit like a programme Derren Brown did years ago. He sent out letters to, let's say 1000 people to back 10 separate horses in a race and gave them £10 to put on the horse. 100 of them won. Then he gave that 100 money to bet on another race with, let's say 5 horse in and 20 won. Then he gave that 20 money to bet on another race with, let's say 4 horses in and 5 won. Then he gave that 5 money to bet in a 5 horse race and 1 won.
Then he asked them to put £1,000 of their own money on a horse. Now, bear in mind this person has been given 4 consecutive winning horses, and the first race had 10 horses in, so they may have backed winners at 10/1, 5/1, 2/1 and 2/1 for example. They think that he knows about horses when he doesn't. It was a very interesting programme. The horse lost, but I can't remember if the person put the money on or not.
