Hooliganism Era.

I really don't associate hooliganism with football at all - it's got nothing to do with football.

Football provides the backdrop maybe - the lineage, the tradition, the factions, and the venues - but other than that, hooliganism is indecipherable from gang violence anywhere else in the world.

Different allegiances with unique customs, and traditions warring with other allegiances for no real reason other than being close in proximity and giving value to different beliefs.

There's nothing novelty about that - that's human nature. That's a human tradition.

The relationship hooliganism has with football is loose at best.

Yeah, Im the one from Lancashire arent I?

Im talking about WW3 lid. Its going to be boss.

The news will be sensational.

Yer i'm talking about wool fights.

WW3.

Nah your proper scouse you lad. We're not English, we are Scouse *clap clap*.

What's the news gonna be?

The allied forces are making vast gains in Europe, the UN and US are no match for the might of China, Iran and Merseyside who are expected to have complete domination of the world by the end of next week.

Official communication intercepted from Merseyside said "dem wools are gonna get it lad".

BONG.

Never really bothered with it. It was and always will be, all about the football for me.
Same here mate..only halfwits and thier ilk got involved in the fighting

Its just a shame they drag whatever club they choose to be alied with down into the mud.

I got involved in a lot of stupid stuff during the early eighties, none of it that i'm proud of, mainly at away games, not that that makes any of it acceptable. No one was searched going into the grounds at that time, one example was when we played Wolves at Molyneux when some Wolves fan tried to attack me after the game brandishing a pair of garden shears, he was dealt with, but that's not the point. Anyway, too old for all that now and glad it's all behind me, but it wasn't part of my life that i fondly reflect on.

You used to get involved with it sometimes even if you didn't want to if you were of a certain age. (Just like it appears to be with the postcode stuff around the UK now.)

Upton Park and travelling across London wasn't pleasant if you weren't a group. But people romanticise how "hard" it was - mostly a hiding, at the worst a glassing, along with the occasional bonkers stuff like throwing darts in the air and people off trains.

My dad would tell you similar stories about the teds and razor-boys on the seafront, whereas a lot of you now could tell stories of guns and knives - it's just moved outside the stadiums and matches into everyday life. In a way then, it was more formalised (if that makes sense).

Never been interested in getting involved myself.

It's when innocents get caught up in it it's not nice. If all lads on both sides consent then why shouldn't they?

I think to say that hooligans aren't football fans is a bit of a generalisation. People can have more than one hobby.

Would you consider fighting just for the sake of it, a Hobby???? :dodgy:
