I think we all know England’s record at tournaments is appalling. But I think what seems to be still up for debate is how bad it is that Scotland have not once got out of a group, even in the old days when they had good players and the game was less global. Look at their 1986 squad for example. Managed by Alex Ferguson and the only team not to get out of their group, which included a team with a smaller population than them

Wow actually never realised Ferguson had managed the Scottish team at that point

Actually surprised by that mate - never knew Scotland never got out their group TBF, prob would have lost money on that - could have sworn the England game in Euro 96 was later round game but prob wrong.

Fair play, but Uruguay and Croatia are still outliers to the mean - frequency dictates there will always be one or two - even we got to the Quarter Final and beat eventual finalists Italy in WC.

Exactly and it’s not even your main sport. I’m just saying they could’ve got out of just one group at one point in their history. You’ve been to what 3 world cups and got out the group each time right?

As I said a team full of English have one 1 tournament. Unlike the Scots who’ve won a number of tournaments with wholly Scottish teams and squads

West Ham 1965, Man City 1970 won the ECWC with all English teams. (According to Wiki)

Scotland haven't been to a world cup in twenty five years, and last won a game in a world cup in 1990!

I voted England but really it's 50/50 between England and Scotland imo.

Yeah and we were unlucky not to make another quarter final appearance in 2002 imo.

Even Northern Ireland made it out of the group stage in 1982, and they have an even smaller pick than us!
