Home European Group Game Attendances

goin myself but honestly couldn't care less what the attendance will be. Some of the best atmospheres over the last 15 years have been in front of mid 20 gates.

Darren Gibson/City game was below 30k. Rocking.

I'm currently debating on this, as the tie is on television anyway and I live a while away from the ground! (2 hours and a bit).

Does anyone know if the ticket sales are likely to get past 30,000? As if its any less, I probably won't bother... paying for a game on TV & with a [Poor language removed] atmosphere seems a bit pointless.

I'd love to go, as I am delighted we're back in Europe & I'm hoping to go to see them away in Lille.

Yeah I think it will be above 30k, I'd be very surprised otherwise. Between 30k and 34k I hope.

Can we get rid of 'We go the game' slogan, not because of the poor sales for tonight but because it's gash?

31,000 people have paid for season tickets. Liverpool is hardly the most affluent of areas in the country. If you've got a season ticket for yourself and your two kids you're looking at well over £600 before you've even gone to any of the games, then there's food and drink on top of that every time.

Aside from the financial issues, people also have lives to live. It's hard to stick midweek games alongside the busy lives that people tend to have nowadays, just because you do it or somebody else does doesn't mean those who aren't prepared to go and get home at 11pm before getting up early the next day to work should be slated.

And yes, more people would go to Barcelona than are going to go to Wolfsburg, but again i fail to see the issue. The reality of life is that people have to prioritise certain things.

I'm not going to Wolfsburg tomorrow, i've got a season ticket and travel an hour each way to the home games and try and do 8+ aways every year, and not always the glamorous ones either. I missed United last season but went to Swansea and Cardiff, for example. I'm not going on Thursday because i'm up at half six every day for work and being honest Wolfsburg aren't enough of a reason for me to spend £50+ all in and feel naff all day in work.

We have one of the best support groups in the country and our away following is superb, slating our own fans when the club has priced the game stupidly seems extremely harsh and overly negative to me. If they'd priced it more in line with clubs like Spurs we would have sold a lot more tickets. Simple as that.

Like I have said mate, thats all fine, and those issue are fair enough, and I have the exact same work & game travel as you do.

My point is ppl saying its too expensive, when they really just dont want to go to Wolfsburg at home.

I've paid for my season ticket tonight but can't go due to work, my mate is going instead.

Midweek games are always going to be harder to get a full attendance at they don't kick off till late, which doesn't make it the best for taking kids, if you're up early for work the next day its not the best for the same reason.

Just because people don't want to risk being knackered in work or kids being tired in school for a group game but would for a 1/4 or semi final doesn't make them any less of a fan.

I for one am selfishly pleased that loads of ST holders aren't bothering. Bought tickets the day they went on general sale and ended up with crappy seats at the back of LB6. So when the ST seats were released and there were tonnes of good views available I contacted the club asking for a swap which they've sorted for me no problems. Now sat row A in LB5 so should have a cracking view. Taking my mate who's never been to a top level club match before (Norwich in the Championship doesn't count) so I'm made up.

Travelling over from Lincoln later, can't wait!
I initially got restricted views, now swopped them for decent upper bullens seats, sound like there won't be many Wolfsburg fans to chat to in UB :/

Yes, I think it does. Thats boardering on fair wather fan.

I dont go to many away games, and those that do, are better fans than me. Its that simple.

Can't agree, I would have to take 2 days holiday from work to get back to watch tonight, if I done that for every EL home game, that's 6 days holiday gone before we've made the group stages.

I am going to the Wolfsburg away game which is 2 days holiday and I have 6 days (They get reset in April) saved for if we reach the knockout stages. I'm gutted I am missing tonight but I can't justify using them 2 days up when I can save them for more important games.

As someone has already said, people have kids etc, taking them to every single game would cost a fortune, this doesn't make them any less of a fan, same as if you buy yourself and family each kit every season it doesn't. Some people are in better positions work wise and financially than others. I think every fan who gets a chance to go the game would love to go to every single home and away match, but its not feasible for the majority.

And thats fine, that is were you are at....But what if it was the Champs League, and drew Barcelona, Bayern and Roma ??

Thats fine if its still the same answer. We cant all be 'super-blues' as some call them, its just were we are at as fans.

Now, if a kopite was saying things like this, and they had 15k empty seats, we would be destroying them.

I agree to an extent with regards to kids. My son who is 8 has got a season ticket. I won't take him to any Monday or Tuesday night games because, like you say, I wouldn't want him tired in school for the rest of the week. I'm fine about taking him tonight because he has only got Friday in school, and I think he can cope with that. Wednesday's are always a 50-50 call though

Unfortunately I still wouldn't be able to go for the same reasons, which means I would prioritise again. I don't get where kopites come into this.

Sounds like you're a really bad parent, bet your kid smokes and drinks as well doen't he? Only joking, that's a fair view on it, I haven't got kids myself but I would probably use the same logic.

Like I said, these are great reason not to go, if you mean them. And its clear you do.

Same cant be said for many many blues I know.

Worth pointing out here to any young people considering going, we are a concession up until 21 for Europa games. That means it's £22 rather than £33 this evening.

There are also many fans who don't live in Liverpool and rely on trains to get to the game who can not go because London Midland do not provide services beyond 23:00
