I mean the trial in America. I dont think its relevant if it was civil or criminal. It's a serious allegation, and if you're innocent, you dont pay millions of pounds to make it go away.
If parents would do that, for a child accused of peadophilia they are utter scum. If it was my kid, I'd never speak to them again. Thats just basic integrity though, that she lacked.

Well they are fundamentally different. Civil law suits can be settled out of court because the cost of defending, fiscally and in terms of reputation, aren't worth it.
I'm not saying this is the case, but it happens and for an organisation like the RF, with their wealth, they may have seen it as a suitable resolution.
Or he have been trying to get away from the civil responsibility... the point is we don't know and, right now, it's a case of innocent until proven guilty.
What I think is important is that the sex, if it did take place and was consensual, would be legal here in the UK (she was sixteen), so the term is questionable.
I've experienced many wealthy families use their resources to pay good barristers to support family members for some very serious crimes.
Some were found guilty while some were found innocent. On each occasion, I personally didn't label them as scum for spending money on their loved ones.
I'm definitely not defending Andrew by the way, but tarring everyone due to his supposed indiscretions is to me a bit crass.
