Heitinga

Moyes drops him because he's crap. If anything he plays him far far too much.
Totally disagree. We had two seasons in row where Heitinga and Distin formed a formidable partnership, better than either of them with Jagielka. But when Jags was back he was automatically a starting XI player, despite not playing so well during 09/10 and 10/11 seasons. Similar case to Mucha and Howard or anyone vs Cahill, with Moyes treating Heitinga like ****.

Of course he was atrocious last season, but I was surprised he didn't ask for transfer after seeing that he will be a back up again.

Next season is his last under his current contract, so i assume he'd prefer to walk for nothing in 12 months and have his pick of clubs with a higher wage.

He'd also forfeit the remainder of his 'signing on' fee if he requested a transfer.

I mean I was surprised that he didn't ask for transfer late last August.

Btw, I believe Martinez replacing Moyes could be actually good for Heitinga, as potentially we could switch on permanent basis for 3 CB defensive line + wingbacks system where Heitinga playing as central CB should feel very comfortable.

but... he's woeful as a cb these days..

I think Jonny's problems started at the Euros (2012) where after coming off a great season with us, he barely featured at the Euros, others like Vlaar being preferred ahead of him. Plus stripped of the captaincy this must have been a pretty confusing and soul destroying time and one that he struggled to shake off last season.

That being said if he can't get his **** together better than that then he deserves to be offloaded.

Might be wrong but i'm pretty sure he started every game?

Was thinking the same. He was also gash in every game of Euro 2012.

my bad, just had a look at the Euro website and yes he started the first 2 games, didn't start against Portugal. Van Rommel was captain.

He must have been truly gash as I cannot remember anything he did of note, then again the Dutch were ****e.

new position - seems his loss of form and confidence started at the Euros.

I am not so sure that Heitinga can afford to hang around as a squad player for the next twelve months. His reputation will have suffered already from not being a first choice centrehalf at Everton.Another twelve months largely sitting on the bench will possibly mean that he won't interest the level of club he feels he should be at.
I fully expect to see him try to leave this summer.
I think that Everton will not be in a rush to sell him.The fee for him will be modest because of his salary level ,he would probably be owed loyalty bonuses and then he would have to be replaced. It might be cheaper to keep him for the next twelve months unless he forces the move.

On www.vi.nl it says that he probably will leave this summer. Says he told Everton he won't sign an extension to his current contract. Can't see Everton even bothering asking him, but he expects to leave.
nobody will buy him though, been the case for a good few years. can fully see us selling him for something stupid like £1m this summer

Can see him going back to Ajax this summer. Claims he agreed a contract with Fenerbahce last January, but Everton held out for too much money, so nothing came of it in the end.
