sabbath were great but i can't stand ozzy's voice, much better vocally when ronny james dio came. how can you not like THIN LIZZY melodies, riffs, structure, lyrics, charisma, ballads, hard ass tunes the ******* lot. don't even get me started on IRON MAIDEN i'm a fan club member so i might say some [Poor language removed] i might regret later. but each to their own i suppose, just don't understand all the 'it's just noise' comments. thrash, death and black metal maybe but NEW WAVE BRITISH HEAVY METAL (NWBHM) from the early 80's can't be overlooked as major turning point in music industry history, shame all our bands were bigger in the states than here (same happened with zeppelin) how can a country that percentage wise hates metal produce probably the 5 best metal bands of all time.

MAIDEN (just awesome)
BLACK SABBATH (tony iommi played guitar without finger-tips ffs)
DEEP PURPLE (smoke on the water, enough said)
MOTORHEAD (that's the way i like baby i ain't gonna live forever!!!!)

Granted . The rest , Zep' and Bon Scott AC/DC , aside - GARBAGE !!!
It actually shocked me how proper cack it was .
All down to taste , I suppose , but having never had a scraggy wig ,
snide , porn star muzzie , leather kecks and a hearing aid , I'm not really best informed .
Also , Brummie accents just don't work when one is hell bent on world domination .Just an opinon , of course.
 
Had it on in the background . Thought Iron Maiden live was top notch. Showing what music is all about. There are so many bands now who look miserable on stage with a " look how clever we are " attitude. Maiden always seem to be enjoying what they do on stage , and don't take it to seriously. Gigs should be about having a good time. Lemmy touched on the same subject, too

Pendulum play heavy metal festivals - i've seen them at Download twice, as do Prodigy,
and its Lost Prophets - Last Train Home, which i hate, i've hated them since their second album!

Emo/scene is just noise and screaming. Goth is a fashion not genre really. There are many variations of metal - thrash metal, nu metal, black metal, death metal, rap metal etc... My personal favourites are thrash and nu. Other genre's generally categorised together on a rock night out are ska, rock, grunge, punk, pop punk, cock rock, old skool etc... Rock is a pretty vast genre! Severenth are awesome guys, not met the new rythm guitarist yet because Jay, the old one, got me into the band and i don't wanna betray him so to speak! I've been on tour with them, they're an amazing band and a right laugh, was out with 3 of them last night - none are up their own arse and they never will be
