….he might have improved but still not deemed good enough. If it happened automatically that players improved to be good enough for top tier football then it would be just like a computer game.

Not sure if you watched him for U21s, but he looked very ordinary.

Boro are apparently holding out for £25m, we are prepared to go to £20m which tbh I think is starting too get a bit much considering he is in his last year.

I think the ‘last year of his contract’ thing is a bit over emphasised tbh. If there is more than one club interested in the player (and seems to be the case), then one is likely to buckle and pay the asking price.

The initial talk of £10 million was never going to happen.

We don’t know for sure
If that’s the case then that strengthens our hand
Maybe we have offered Hackney a bigger signing on fee if he holds that stance and we get him below Boro’s perceived market value
