Thread title is rather misleading. Source is not either club, but an article in the highly unreliable Goal.com which quotes a provincial French paper with an unaccustomed note of caution - "the suggestion that he has turned away an offer from Premier League outfit Everton does indeed seem plausible" !

Widespread reports in France this morning claim Marseille have rejected a bid from Everton for winger Hatem Ben Arfa .
Everton are understood to have proposed a loan deal for six months with a view to a permanent move for the French international.
Ben Arfa had been tipped to leave Marseille in the January transfer window after a falling out with coach Didier Deschamps. Olympiakos had a bid rejected for Ben Arfa and Manchester United were also linked with the 22-year-old.
However, he appears to have turned his fortunes around with an impressive performance against Auxerre before the winter beak and he also scored in the Coupe de France win over Trelissac on Sunday.
Everton have been linked with a host of forward players as they look to strengthen in the January transfer window.
Reports have suggested Everton boss David Moyes is interested in Benni McCarthy and Matt Derbyshire as well as Belgian winger Maxime Lestienne.
