Has it all gone a bit wrong?

He beat us in the QF and City in the final. The other rounds aren't exactly anything to hang his hat on, due to the dire level of the opposition.

The QF game, they did amazingly well - I don't think it's unfair to say they were aided by the fact that pretty much every one of our players had the worst game they've had in a long time, and as a unit, we played as badly as I've seen us play in the better part of a decade. PART of this was down to Wigan's game plan, but a good chunk was on us.

The final, again, an excellent gameplan well executed, but once again, helped to some extent by City having a (very) off day. Reading in the papers on the morning of the final that your manager is going to be sacked whatever the result is hardly the best way to focus the mind. But take nothing away, Wigan did very very well.

But if you HONESTLY think that winning two games against Premier League opposition, plus 2 vs Championship, one League One and one non-league is a more difficult achievement than taking a squad tipped for relegation and getting it to 4th place over the course of THIRTY EIGHT games... well... I'm out.

Of course you're out, doubtless if Moyes had won the FA cup and someone asked what his greatest day at our place was you'd say "coming 4th".

I don't think so.

Birkenhead blue does make some good points, in amongst some complete madness there

No, clearly not. His greatest DAY would have been winning the cup. However, his most difficult, impressive accomplishment would not have been. Particularly if it had involved beating those teams on the way.

Yes, we took a few decent scalps that year. We were never in that final though, not really. When push came to shove Moyes couldn't find the answers in big games.

To be fair Dave, we were missing Arteta in a time when he was playing the best he'd ever played in his career, and Jags who was also a big loss that season.

Getting into semantics now lad .... or bollox as we call it in Frankby.

Look at us, a passing and a moving, with reckless abandon, working for each other and adapting to the opposition's gameplan at the drop of hat

Get back to Wigan you olive skinned, shiney teethed freak, with your words of wisdom at every press
conference , pretending that you 'get us'....

Tut......

Lads, come on. It's not like we're doing that badly. As soon as our ivorian strike force heals their brittle ankles we will surely be able to field a team that delivers less shots on target. I, too, am tired of "ruthless" Everton, it's not like we're bad guys you know.

I think anyone who knows anything about football can see Martinez is out of his depth by a mile

Hes a Championship manager and nothing more, I really fear relegation this season, Lets just hope Moyes cocks up at Utd and is willing to come back here to save a sinking ship once again
Lol funny what we thought in August.
