Has it all gone a bit wrong?

Many people fairly argue that playing more expansive, exciting football while leaving the back door open a bit more as a result is a positive thing after being frustrated by Moyes style of play. Personally, I think before long if we're leaking goals and it's costing us points (because let's face it, it doesn't look like we're going to be banging them in left, right and centre this year) frustration levels will be pretty high and the change will be nowhere near as welcome as it was before we kicked off preseason.

If "good" football is enough to satisfy those who wanted Moyes out purely for his style of play then fair enough, but if/when we fall behind the sh*te, they start taking the piss and the media starts patronising us even more "Arr bless, look at little Leon Osman thinking he's Xavi" etc I wonder will Moyes legacy be as grim a one as has been made out by many this summer.

As a set of fans we're extremely impatient. Watching us play around with the ball at the back will have the crowd on edge and a couple of goals conceded through overplaying in that area will bring plenty of dissenting voices.

We went behind to the ****e almost every single derby under Moyes.

In relation to the OP, I don't think anything at all has gone Pete Tong.

It's still about fitness and seeing what the strongest squad is. The fact we've given Juventus and Real Madrid (not forgetting wins at Accrington and Blackburn) a real run for their money would suggest that things are going well.

We'll almost certainly benefit from playing such opposition in this pre-season, rather than the usual runs-out against Scottish lower league sides (no disrespect meant). Still got Real Betis to come, another team who will provide a proper test. I've got quite the positive feeling at the moment and this manager needs to be given a chance just like the previous manager was afforded. I admire his gall for trying new systems.

I'm defo impatient if we're not winning and if we're messing around in our own half rather than looking to cut through team's I'm going to get frustrated, but that's where we have to give Roberto time. I'm not giving him anywhere near a season though. No way, not with this current crop of players he's got. We need results this season. I don't want to sound harsh or unrealistic, but ffs, we need to be realistic about the quality of players we have. Mirallas, Baines, Fellaini, Jagielka. We need to be getting good league finishes out of this lot.

Hard to judge pre-season but there's been some good and some bad from what I've seen..the good: impressive performances by Barkley and Stones, both starting to look really good prospects...and dare I say it...Naismith has shown he's up for the fight, he may not have enough but the lad seems to wanna work and prove himself...the new Barry Horne?? Oviedo has improved too.
The bad: so far RM's signings haven't done much to indicate they'll improve the 1st team, hope I'm wrong but...we'll see.
Am also doubting Jelavic and Victor, need more goals from the forwards this year and simply can't see it happening

Right this is just my opinion, may be a bit wild so buckle your seatbelts. I'm going to give Martinez the season in charge. I'm going to judge him at the end. Thanks.
