The difference being though we make players rather then blowing wonga on the cream of other peoples players. Spurs for a long time hoovered up all the young talent in England, Bale, Rose, Bostock, Gunther, Kaboul, Hutton, Bentley, Bent, Hutton, Naughton, Dos Santos - to mention only their recent purchases. They adopted that system for the best part of six years and despite spending tens of millions on it got them absoultley nowhere and had about 6 managers. In that time David Moyes for a fraction of the cost bought players of the ilk of Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Lescott, Baines, Jags and turned them all into top top players.
Truth being we bet Spurs at their own game for a fraction of the cost, which made them abandon their whole approach and bring in Harry and his magic gift of being able to sign established good players for big money - not really an art is it. The Tax evasion, Pompeys situation and getting Southampton relegated all suggest hes all about the here and now and doesnt give a stuff about clubs development and long term futures. While on our side we have manager who has built and developed a class first team but also the entire infrastructure of the club from scouting to the youth team to the academy etc. Redknapp in a manager of a first team (he doesnt even coach the players) Moyes in the manager of a football club - there is a massive difference.
So to answer the origanal question, should we take a leaf out of Redknapps book - hell no!
