Harry Maguire arrested...

United say it will go to appeal.

Not an expert on Greek law, @marnie , but I would just suck it up, in case a failed appeal removes the suspended part of the sentence.

Didn't his sister get stabbed though? I'll be honest I haven't read enough on it and Sterling and phil above might be right but if someone stabbed my sister in-front of me I'd kill everyone around it.

Wouldn't surprise me tbh if it didn't go something like:

- his sister thought she was given something that made her unwell
- he kicked up a stink about it and shoved someone he thought was responsible
- cops turned up and rather than taking her to the hospital, started getting officious
- he panics and turns to the "I'm a big cheese" approach
- the cops take poorly to this and try to arrest him
- he gets more agitated and resists

Or something to that effect.

“He says the testimonies pertaining to the bribery charge are very vague. “they didn’t specify what he wanted to pay.” He continues “they would never say ‘[Poor language removed] Greece,’ they love the country, and are keen on the ancient Greek culture.”“

ha ha jesus christ. That's up there with the 'salisbury catherdral' crap

Dunno. But he deffo didnt bribe someone to stab her. Or try to.

Think that kinda pins it. Now stuff is leaking out. If he had been less of a bell at the final 2 points you make, and apologised, Greek bloke on just now reckons they would have let it slide.

Aye, probably. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, and perhaps this is the version Southgate heard, he simply panicked because he thought his sister was unwell and wasn't getting the care she needed, and tried to use his status to get things going (which probably would work in most situations tbh). He's been a divvy, but it doesn't really sound like crime of the century. When you add in that he almost certainly doesn't speak Greek, and the coppers might not speak English.
