2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Whatever your thoughts on his management ability, I think we can all agree that this man gives the most hideous, uninspiring press conferences that the world has ever seen.

“Hi David, any words of encouragement for the young man that’s been at this club since he was a boy and desperately wants nothing more than to succeed here?”

“Nah, I’d rather be shot of him as soon as we get arl Idrissa back.”

He can be a bit dour can’t he!

But tbh I think the lad probably wants to go back to Preston for the remainder of the season, he certainly said in an interview I watched a few weeks back that he felt he’d be be best staying at the team all season and he clearly liked it there.

I imagine that’s the most likely outcome, but surely the message should be along the lines of “we need him in the squad while we’re short on numbers, and if he gets and takes his chance there’s every possibility he’ll be with us for the rest of the year. If that doesn’t look like being the case then of course we’ll consider sending him back to continue his development.”

I get that expectations have to be managed, but you’d want to put a positive spin on something like this, rather than just Dour Davey doing Dour Davey stuff.

Anyway, it is what it is. Centre mid has gone from a years-long horror show for us into an area we can potentially get excited about. Garns, Tim, Charly, Merlin and Armstrong could be a strong central midfield armoury for years to come.
