Rooney was a generational talent , Barkley on his day is class had all the attributes apart from mentality Barkley is still getting good minutes for villa now

If Barkley had a brain he would be deadly. Still a talent though, just was a little missing that stopped him being that next level up.

I saw Mason Mount being interviewed last night, I remember his very successful loan spell at Derby in the Championship, one of the more successful loans there. He was I think a year older than Armstrong, scored more goals, but Armstrong is showing a similar impact at this level at a similar period in his development.

Barkley has only played in 8 matches this season, a total of 145 mins, he's a bit part player nowadays.

He was a class act for a short spell under Roberto - injuries took their toll though - he was on his way down when we sold him to Chelsea ....

Barkley was never in a million years a class player, Rooney was a one off.

Course he was class....33 caps for England in a very good group of midfielders, he was a very good player. Not World class but he was absolutely a class player till his injuries affected him.
