You have to factor in if he comes back in the summer, we are probably likely to strengthen that CM position.

I like the idea of leaving him were he is, but if the opportunity right now is to play here, he should come back

I'm local Preston and know plenty of North End fans and they honestly believe this lad of 'ours' is going to be an absolute star in years to come IF he avoids injury and doesn't lose the plot. After all, he is still only in his late teens with plenty of time to develop...but we said the same thing about Rodwell and look what happened there. Mind you, different cloth and all that.

Think mindset wise Armstrong and Rodwell are miles apart. Rodwell had all the ability in the world but there was definitely ‘too much Birkdale and not enough Kirkdale’ about him. One of the things we are seeing with Dewsbury Hall at the minute is that he plays like it matters and he isn’t going through the motions. Armstrong seems very much like that in what I’ve seen and I like that one of the comments put up from PNE’s forum was that he has a nasty streak about him. If he’s mixing it up in the Championship and not being fazed by the physical stuff he will come back ready to compete for a place in squads and to push on.

Think we should be looking at a dominant holding midfielder. With KDH, garner, rhol and Armstrong we’d have enough box to box midfielders

I don't want him back, let the lad progress away from our demanding fans, learning a physical trade in the championship will benefit him more than off the bench cameos.

Leave him where he is for the rest of the season, then reasess.
