2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Put your stats in the bin lad and watch the game.
Put your stats in the bin lad and watch the game.
You need to get to
Specsavers mate. It’s worrying that
the game he impressed you in as an impressive performance, he gave the ball away once every two passes 😂. Look I’m not here to knock a young player, but the only thing Villa Tim has on Armstrong right now is his physical presence. Tim is a big lad and can compete in the midfield at prem level. Apart from that he doesn’t have much, occasionally he can run with the ball and go past a player,
But he’s just as likely to lose it.
And when I’ve watched him, he is a safe passer most of the Time. He’s not pinging 40 yard passes all over the pitch, so to have 55% accuracy is worrying. He’s also now
Dropped behind Rhol in the pecking order his already down to 5th choice.

Comparing both players at 18, Harrison Armstrong is on another planet

Did you ever watch Tim at 18? Watch his highlights for QPR. He does things I’ve never seen HA do.

You definitely didn’t watch him at 18 playing for QPR, as he was 19. At Harrison age he was playing for Villa under 21’s

No I didn’t watch him at QPR , so when did you watch him? , because I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have been watching QPR games in the 22/23 seasons. So you’ve basically seen Tim’s QPR highlights on YouTube.

He played 32 times got 2 goals and no assists. I’ve seen some QPR fans say he was very good and others who have said he was ok at best

So when you said comparing HA and Tim at 18 HA is on a different planet that was complete BS as I suspected.

To be fair I think this speaks a bit to some people's unrealistic (current) expectations.

If an 18 year old is regularly playing centre mid at a decent senior men's level and not looking actively crap, that's reason enough to be excited about them as a prospect.

If they're looking *good*, then that's insanely exciting.

For what it's worth I've bought all in on the Armstrong hype train, but for me that means understanding he's still miles off Prem starter quality. Where he is for his age though is incredible. Only the true freaks play like actual superstars in their teens - Rooneys, Bellinghams etc. The vast majority of even world class players don't.
Just look at his game attributes, the simplicity in his game, his awareness of what's around him, the next pass isn't a time factor.

He is playing in a team not on his same wavelength, so he is having to adapt himself to a different gameplan, which will add more strings to his bow, but also frustrate him.

He isn't overawed with anything in front of him, and confident in his own ability.

Its hard to really stand out in a team that base solely on going straight to the wings.

Look at the little things.

The nterview that was posted the other day shows a young lad growing into a you man.

Tho we shouldn't put pressure on him with hopes/expectations, just watch him grow.

I'll stop now, cos I know we both look at things from opposite ends, this lad might help us meet in the middle.

To be clear, I agree with everything you say! I'm fully on the hype train like I said. I just want to emphasise what a gap there is in development between looking good at Championship level and looking great at Prem level. I don't want us to expect him to tear it up for us next season or something and put too much pressure on

I'd say that Harrison is the future of our midfield and he is but that is to underplay his current ability.
I think he's ready to play PL football right now.
I think he will turn out to be the best midfielder that we've seen since Alan Ball.
Hype? Maybe but I don't think so.
This young man has got everything you'd want in a modern midfielder , I just hope that Moyes recognises that and makes him central to everything that we do.

Oh boy. Anyway, this is exactly why HA was sent on loan, to get experience, improve his game, and work on consistency. He was nowhere ready to play in the PL and thats more than fine. Seems his play in the championship just further reinforces that his strength is holding the ball and cover, essentially the DM role. Where he struggles is anything forward or progressive, outside of some long passes from the DM role. Thats pretty much exactly what we saw in preseason. Either he learns to add more forward play and creativity to his game, and takes more chances going forward, or I do think his long term role will be as a DM sitting in front of the CBs.

Have you been watching him, he is anything but a player that hasn't got creativity, his movement forward with the ball is brilliant.

I'm actually going to stop cos many posters have already seen this and I don't want to keep saying the same things, again and again.

Just give him a watch, and than see if you feel the same with his gameplay.

Just look at palace for instance, and a few players everyone including you rate very highly

Wharton - Championship
Eze - Championship
Olise- Championship

That's just one club..

We all agree on the pressure, but he looks and sounds like a lad that could take that on his shoulders.

You’re absolutely insane.

It's more than that Zat. This kids already fantastic.
He's going to be incredible.
The big question is will it be with us and will it be same old Everton and cash in early?
He’s not fantastic. He’s doing well at a lower level as an 18 year old. Nothing in his amazing display against SU made me think he would be any better than any of the current midfielders in our squad.
