2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

Nothing to get exited about as there’s another game coming , get worried if he doesn’t start this one. Wales u19 are playing Netherlands later today, that would have been a harder game for England.
England v Wales
MU19 International
11am BST, Tuesday 14 October 2025
La Quinta Football Centre, Spain

….i wouldn’t look into team selection much for friendlies at this level. The bench will usually have one or two you’d think would normally be starters.

I reckon you’d only truly know the strongest starting X1 in a major tournament, until then they’ll rotate with such a rich pool of talent.
I don't read anything into U19s selection at all. Lots of very good players never play for the U19s and lots of players who never make it do.

….i think this is one of those years with a rich pool of players. It happens. The FA won’t want to get on the wrong side of clubs so will be sparing in game time.

I suppose it depends on the definition of ‘making it’, it’s a good crop.

That’s the beauty and fun of watching youngsters coming through trying to pick out who “ will make it “ and to what level . This month the Guardian will release their “ Next Generation “ , their picks of the best young player in each PL team. Imagine the resources they have , but they get it wrong more often than they get it right. Two years ago Everton’s selection was George Morgan , then Wales u17 striker. Most Evertonians won’t have even heard of him, the Guardian completely missed Harrison Armstrong, mainly because he hadn’t played for England youth back then and was harder to spot . A year or so earlier the Arsenal pick was Omari Benjamin, he’s now playing for our u21s, a decent young player but nowhere near our first team. This year our pick will be Malik Olayiwola, very talented, easy to pick because he’s done well at England u16 level but nowhere near guaranteed he’ll “ make it “ yet. You can usually dismiss 90% of our youngsters and be right, that’s why the special ones like Armstrong stand out.
