2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

I think he’s better suited to staying here and getting minutes when we’re (hopefully) more comfortable in games. He’ll have cup games etc too.

If he’s anywhere near starting though then we’ve got a huge problem/he’s progressed exponentially.

If he is the player we are hearing he is then that would be the route I'd like to see after a very successful loan last season.

Obviously we need a 6. Ive/weve seen those performances he had at Derby as a 6.

He was arguably their best player in all but one or two matches I watched.

Were trying to sign 19 year old Dibling for £40mil odd...could Armstrong take the 6 and make the position his own this season?

I think he can.

The question is whether staying with Everton, or going on loan until Jan is the best way to set him up for the DM role in the 2nd half of the season?
With the best will in the world I don't think he's anywhere near ready. At least another year - probably more - of development before he's ready to be a PL starter in midfield. And that's no knock on him.

We should have just left the lad at Derby for 25/26. He knows the club, the manager likes him. He’ll get the game time. Moyes won’t be playing him. We did the same messing about with Ellis Simms when he should’ve stayed with Blackpool.

3 choices.
Loan him out to Championship now, with clause for return in January if we need him.
Keep until January then loan him out if he’s not getting enough minutes.
Keep and ensure he gets enough minutes and we progress his development in house.

For me it’s keep. I’m fed up of us making selections of players, tactics , managers etc based on the need to avoid relegation. Let’s start developing as a club with ambition, which includes developing our best youngster for years in house with specific plans for him. If we believe we’ve got the coaches and set up to sign 19 year old Aznou , try to buy/attract 19 year old Dibling we should have the belief we can develop Armstrong who’s 19 in January.
We should have but to me Moyes isn’t going to play youngsters like Armstrong. So I’d be sending him straight back to Derby. He needs games to fully develop.

10 minutes against PL teams as a regular sub, training with a PL team every day and getting full games in cups and maybe Afcon is better than going out again. We need bodies and from what I've seen he is calm enough and capable enough to develop in that situation

You don’t develop playing 10 minutes as a sub and a couple of cup games! Moyes isn’t starting the lad in the league unless we get some horrendous injury list. He’s got no track record of developing a player like Armstrong, so the lad needs to go back to Derby this season.

Of course he would
Training with a PL team every day that is preparing to play PL football every week is of course beneficial
If he wasn't getting subbed on and starting cup games then yes he should go out on loan but if he's trusted as a squad player then we should absolutely be keeping him because that's the level to keep players around after a loan, not when they are ready to be first choice.

I don’t believe Moyes will trust him, look at his track record, it’s poor. Basically the only one he’s used the way you are describing was Rooney.

If that's the case then he should go out on loan. I reckon Moyes will be honest with him about his chances in the first team. The problem is the line needs to be drawn somewhere. A player can't go from a regular in the championship on loan to being first choice in the PL when he comes back, it's a different level. They need to be squad players first unless its a PL team he gets a loan to, like Baines.

Kroupi Jr the 18 year old lad Bournemouth bought tore up the French 2nd division on loan and now he's with the Bournemouth squad as a squad player for the season. Seems like the right pathway, but as you say, depends on the manager too

We will have cup games and AFCON will be a thing. See where we are in January. If he is so far removed from the first team by then, loan him out.

Agree with this approach completely

"Very successful"? I watched him in a good handful of games and didnt stand out for me. Average in a poor team.
